TB is a very sincere man and believes he is doing the right thing. Unfortunately, he is sincerely wrong about many issues and falls into the trap of setting far too much store by achieving targets. Consequently, in order for these targets to be achieved, quality is lost.

The English have done some milestones in Aviation... like the Comet airliner...first viable jet. Grounded 'cause the wings fell off all the time.Then the RAF-Royal Navy version of the U S F-4... I dont know how you guys did it but you made one of the best fighters of all time heavier, slower and way less range than the US spec....
Psst...the Comets blew up in great style, nothing so tardy as the wings falling off. BTW, YOUR guys sure do love OUR Harrier..

I know Brits have been regarded as tight-wads in the US. However, most of us don't realise about the low wages that are paid to waiting staff over there. The minimum hourly wage in the UK is £5.05, that's about $9 per hour.

Yep, I too love to see the Lancaster when it makes one of it's very infrequent flights. I think there are only 3 flying now.
I understand it was originally designed as a 2 engined bomber, known as the "Manchester", until some bright spark had the idea of fitting it up with 4 Spitfire engines. Thus was born the mighty Lanc!

I'm delighted because the successful flight yesterday brings lots of work into this part of the UK. The wings, landing gear and Rolls Royce engines are all built in the West Country. 'Course, when the Americans buy the plane, which they will do eventually, I suppose they'll have to make do with the rattly old Pratt & Whitneys..
