all mankind stands condemned before god, and yet some are more reprehensible than others are.
as an example, christ called the original christian apostate, judas, the son of destruction.
so too, and not surprisingly, the activities of modern day apostates are said to awaken the judgment from of old, so that "the destruction of them is not slumbering.

the wt definition of "only in the lord" meaning only dedicated witnesses of jehovah in good standing greatly narrows the field of eligible mates.
this has brought about some unusual unions because of the circumstances, involving people who would ordinarily not meet, let alone marry, if it were not for a shared belief system.. what unusual couplings have you seen in your jw days?
how large was your personal field of possibilities and did it include some unusual options?
Well, I was very limited in my choice of a partner. When the Claudia Cardinale lookalike smouldered out of my life, there was just a couple of short dumpy pioneers left who were desperate for a shag.
I made an honest women out of one of them, we had nothing whatsoever in common except a morbid fear of demons. The marriage lasted 3 years before she hitailed it with several sailors from HMS Lowestoft.

so we can see that the early jehovah witnesses believed that jesus parousia began in 1874. the truth book states this above and it is in all the old books.

this statement is coming from the organization that offered the scholarship and keeps written records of such.
Watchtower Bible and Tract society of Britain ?
Where the hell is Britain? Why have they changed the name from Great Britain? Do they think that the term "Great" should only apply to Jehovah?
"Great" is a geographical term, like Greater Manchester or Greater London and refers to the area around a central point.
Phooey to them.

Anyone can prophesy. Anyone can say "You're all going to die!" When it doesn't happen and the objects of the prophecy pour derision upon the prophet, that is a perfectly justifiable thing to do. If the prophet turns round and says he got the dates a bit wrong but you are still all going to die, then he has, IMHO, somewhat lost his credibility.
Now this is exactly what I have actually witnessed occur. The WTBTS has missed out on many dates, and you yourself have also prophesied that there would be financial collapse in the USA in autumn 2000.
Because ex-witnesses are now skeptical of your prophesies you seem to think that such skepticism - mockery if you like - is some sort of fulfillment of prophesy. In effect, you are just writing your own newspaper headline and then rushing out to fulfill it, rather like author Irving Wallaces hero in "The Almighty".

reading the jw's literature one could easily be forgiven for thinking that the whole world is united against god, and as such, according to witness teachings, is only deserving of death.. singing "kingdom melodies" would also lead a person to the same conclusion.
"who is on the lords side", "then they will know", "take sides with jehovah", "marching as to victory", "living up to the name", all these songs are designed to engender a feeling of being part of a god-loving organisation that is united against a common enemy.. the "common enemy syndrome" is used to good effect during wars, so that a nation will pull harder and endure greater deprivations more willingly.. common enemies arouse passion within one's soul as every soccer fan experiences.
flying one's colours in the face of the enemy - opposing team supporters - appeals to our most basic tribal instincts.

The "common enemy syndrome" is used to good effect during wars, so that a nation will pull harder and endure greater deprivations more willingly.
Common enemies arouse passion within one's soul as every soccer fan experiences. Flying one's colours in the face of the enemy - opposing team supporters - appeals to our most basic tribal instincts. JW's literally "fly their colours" by the wearing of assembly badges, touting colourful leaflets, rousing and warlike singing of songs - again in stadia - unites them in much the same way.
Of course, for all of this to work, they need a common enemy. One can almost imagine the Judge's input: "Hmmm. I've got it! The common enemy will be God-haters. Everyone who is not a witness must be a God-hater. So every non-witness is our enemy."
So the average JW believes in an "issue", Gods name must be "vindicated", Satan must be shown to be a "liar", haters of Jehovah must be destroyed.
Once one steps aside from the furore of witness paranoia for God-by-proxy, it becomes patently obvious that the idea of the world being full of God haters is ludicrous. When was the last time that you heard someone say that they hated God?
Surely the most common emotion regarding God is a "If God exists why doesn't he fix things" sentiment? Where is the hatred in that? Isn't that a perfectly reasonable question?
Certainly, no-one in their right mind would hate their Creator if they were convinced of his existence. JW's whipping up of the R & F against the world on Gods so-called behalf, serves only to keep another years assembly fodder in a state of bewildered expectation.

general election...june 7....uk.
how will you vote?.....now that we are allowed to vote it would be interesting to see what political persuasions we have.. for me it is important to vote.
for years i have been told that i cannot voice my opinion....however to vote for me is one of our fundamental human rights.
I shall vote for Labour.
My JW mother would vote for labour were she not a JW, she says that her state pension has increased by about £20 per week since they came into power.
However! I think that the anti-asylum seekers should vote for the Consevatives, if they were in power no one would want to live in the UK!
By the way, Simon, congratulations on Kevin Keegans appointment to Manchester City.

PS: Here's UK Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott throwing a punch at an egg-throwing heckler. I wonder how many votes this will generate?

i don't know why i never spotted this before, but my daughter from my first marriage has just pointed out to me that her grandmother - my jw mother - has never ever contacted her since she was a child.
how would her grandmother respond if she - my daughter - made some contact?.
my first response was to say that i'm sure she would be delighted to hear from her, but then i got to wondering.
Wasa,
Good points! Indeed, my mum was born in 1922 into a very puritanical background, and suffered greatly when her own mother died in childbirth when she was a 9 year old girl, so maybe I need to take a look from a fresh angle. Thank you,

the watchtower society is in a funk.
no doubt about it.
it is stagnant and paralyzed by its own inertia.. it has survived for one and one quarter centuries for a few very simple reasons: .
Farkel,
Adeptly explained and proved. I relate to the not being part of a group, ultimately the groups good intentions regress to the survival of the group as the be all and end all.
