the letter of jude at verses 14,15 make reference to a prophesy of enoch.
this prophesy is not found in the cannonical old testament books but is found in the apocryphal book of enoch at enoch 1:9. most all scholars don't believe the book of enoch was actually written by enoch the 7th in line from adam but jude attributes this prophesy to him.

i Was aware of some other OT quotes like that of the book of the wars of YHWH but i don't know to many from the NT. GreenDawn can you remember any of those? And what are implications of bible writers quoting lost and/or aprocryphal books. One of the arguments FOR the canonocity (sp) of biblical books is that they are mentioned or quoted by other bible writers. Also at the 1st centurey AD there was no set cannon and many of the letters were just that, letters. So a wide variety of books and letters were availble to early christians as well as Jews in Jesus day if im not mistaken.

Mavie i was just thumbing through that bible Saturday at the book store. Looked pretty interesting... And i've always had an interest in apocryphal books as well. Bel in the dragon and Tobit are pretty cool books

why did it post my post 3 times? thats weird...oh but thanks for all your loving care and help. I really feel like you are all genuinely concerned. I'm touched. I just hope i can maintain my resolve while still keeping the peace in my house. I wish i could go back and be more cautious but life goes on. I just don't know how to reason with my parents sometimes because the way they see it is it doesnt matter what i have against the wts because A.it's apostate B. Even if its true, theres no other org out there that teaches "basic undeniable truths" ie no-trinity, hellfire, immortal soul, paridise earth. And Revelation 19:1 didnt even make them flinch... well i respect how convicted and "faithful" they are. And the most cliche thing they keep saying is "if this isn't the truth then where else can we go?" and "i just know this is the truth! I feel it so strongly"....

Well i just had what i'll call "round 3" with my mom only. My father is the dogmatic in your face company man type but my moms the commited yet reasonable type. I have always felt intimidated by my father but i feel more open with my mom. Well we had a discussion about yesterdays watchtower study. The first Ressurection one. And i brought up seemingly inconsistent bible quotes. One paragraph brought up that the annointed must first die in order to get the heavenly reward so i brought up 1 corinthians 15:52,53 which says not all will die and 1 thessalonians 4:16,17 which expresses similar sentiments...well i could tell she was confused and she looked up these issues in the reasoning book and tge wt-cd and still wasnt satisfied. We also talked about the governing body and acts 15 and christs judgement in 1918 and how the society lies in there publications by saying that they had the accurate understanding of 1914 at that time when they didnt....well i think i was more sucessful this time....

hmmmm how bizarre... i originally type the infinity symbol but when it posted it turned into the 8... oh well....what i was meaning is the only thing i keep coming to is that the universe and all of its possibilities are infinite. Whatever "truth" i find is only personal truth. Im ok penny2 or at least at the moment. I've swallowed all my pride and submitted to my parents and the witnesses just for the time being in order to keep the peace and buy me time to plan for my future. I've told them that i've decided to "give the truth a second chance" which totally brought them relief... It's both a loss and a win to me. Maybe if i play my cards right i can do the whole fade thing.... who knows. By the way i just 8 a P B & J sandwich....yum yum
