  ok, so i recently watched the film religulous, and found it to be very funny.. .

  however, i was quite disappointed to see maher "confront" some christians with.

  the "fact" that the jesus myth was borrowed pretty nearly whole-cloth from the.

  i too found this quite puzzling. I think christians and JW's alike that are confronted with this kind of BS "argument" against christianity will feel only more empowered once they find out that its all BS. There faith strengthened, there sense of being "persecuted" boistered and your right a BAD argument for a GOOD cause is counterproductive and defeats the purpose of making the argument at all.

  Oh yeah and 90% of zeltegeist is tripe propaganda just as guilty as christian propaganda. Why would someone want to taint there cause by using sloppy twisted arguments that when fact checked are clearly innacurate. If i wanted to take in info like that i'd read a watchtower.

  it's similar to the mentalist.

  the 1st episode had a young jw teen accused of killing his teacher.

  i watched it last night after i watched the season priemere of lost (woot woot)

  As far as the show goes it could be interesting. Shows some potential although i wouldn't be suprised to see it get the axe come show-nixxing season.

  The JW of the aspect of the show was somewhat laughable. the kid could of come from any christian extremist family the JW title was just a lead-in. Any JW watching the show would have just scoffed, turned off the show and add the show to there list of instances of "persecution" from the world.

  the storyline was pretty weak. i hope the show gets better otherwise im sticking to my guns and only turning on the tube wednesday nights to watch lost.

  Hulu is great by the way. They have a few decent movies to legally watch online as well. I was suprised to see Requiem for a dream. Still gotta put up with the little annoying commercial breaks though.

  A Grieving Mother

  i have not posted on this site in a while, some of you might remember i am a non-jw.

  i have been in a long distance relationship with a jw from massachusetts for last 3 1/2 years.

  here is my post, i had a daughter that passed away in september from complications to a double lung transplant.

  I am so sorry for your loss. That is devastating.

  i've heard of witnesses doing this and i too find it wrong and appalling. Using the death of a loved one as a way to pitch a religion is unacceptable. However I dont think the witness that sent you the tracks was intentionally being unsympathetic but merely wanted to "help" you.

  JW funerals are pretty bizarre. 10 minutes discuss the deceased where as the other 30 are spent "selling" the ideas and doctrines such as paridise and that "god's organization" is the only means of salvation.

  I adore Rilo Kiley and subsequently Jenny lewis. I almost put the execution of all things on my list. Whats your opinion on Acid Tongue? your one of the only folks ive come across that enjoys Camera Obscura like i do. Have you heard Citrus by asobi seksu? i think you would enjoy that

  I prefer Fiona Apples Extraordinary machine, although tidal is good as is Paper bag

  Tori Amos has bigger balls than i do. God love her!

  anyone who watched the oath of office administered to obama noticed judge roberts (mr. bush's buddy) screwed up the oath.. the man had one thing to do today and in classic bushy style, he screwed it up.

  there is only 1 way to become a jw, and accept all of the teachings.. you have to accept the govering body as god.

  that means that they have all of the answers.

  if you accept that then you will believe it all.. have you noticed that all jw's take everything as it is from god?.

  would the average jw think that the number of 144,00 was a literal number, even if the partakers were over 144,000?

  or would they just go with what the gb says?.

  i think that they would say that it is figurative literal number.

  evey other number in the book of revelation is symbolic

  the 12 tribes are symbolic according to watchtower teaching

  yet the number 144k is somehow literal

  never made much sense to me
