REM show last night... my critique
by dawg inin art, there can be no wrong opinions, we like what we like and have to offer no explanation for what we like and/or do not like.
that said... my take on last night's rem concert at lakewood amphitheater.
ok, so i'm an athenian, that means i'm supposed to love all things athens, georgia is about; but i've never been a big rem fan... in fact, when i was offered front row tickets given by the band themselves, i really didn't want to go.

Most 'big' bands are not worth the entrance fee. If you really are a music fan you should go see smaller gigs. They're often much more interesting events and cost loads less.
I would say i see 500+ bands a year as I'm a live sound engineer. I've never 'had a drink or two with Michael Stipe', I'm such a no-mark.

There's a great feeling of inner peace when you give over your decisions to some 'higher authority'. It's very stressful making your own calls in life for some people, for fear of getting things wrong.
Essentially when you just give up it can make you happy and give you a sense of inner peace. For example, there's no need to be concerned with global warming or a collapse of civilization due to a lack of oil etc because god will just kiss it all better and there's no need to take measures to make the world a better place, just go to meetings and everything will turn out well for you.

My reasoning was 'How can you decide that the creation account in the first chapter is not to be taken literally because it would be stupid to believe the world/universe was created in 6 literal days, and yet turn the page and start to believe it's all to be taken literally, there really was a talking snake etc.'

The last thing they would want is to bring this issue up. There is such significant evidence to suggest that humans have been pottering around the planet long before Adam and Eve were alleged to have been created, that if they tried to debunk it they would just be opening up a can of worms.
Considering most R&F JW's use the Watchtower publications to inform them on everything and have a phobia of secular information, there's probably no need for them to tackle the subject.

I just kinda wanna stamp my mark on the cong, most of the people haven't seen me in a long time and if they found out I changed the number they would quietly clench their fist and say 'That's my boy, I always did like him'. And I can just imagine some of the elders saying 'I always knew he was trouble'.
