Although this is only one step: he argues it is inevitable that certain oils exist (given that there is hydrogen and carbon dioxide). This is still far from (self-replicating) RNA, he admits in the Q&A section. Whether that is also inevitable is an open question that needs teamwork between chemistry, physics and biology.
its sounds too good to be true but hey technology is increasing and we have moore's law working in our favor and quantum computers in production already which i think will lead to even more sophisticated solutions to our problems that need solutions.. i think they will make it cheaper and cheaper to live and for everybody to benefit from it, making wars a thing of the past once countries have enough resources.

The algae have been researched for a long time already. The problem is that the most productive species are also the easiest to get a disease. It's a trade-off in a sense. Use energy for oil production or use it for defense and fight your enemies. So either the efficiency is not there, or it doesn't scale up well. In the end, it's just too costly.
Also I'm not sure about a sandwich built from weed ;)
But who knows, maybe there will be a breakthrough enabling commercial production. Using bio-ethanol is very compatible to current gasoline so it's very attractive from that point of view.

i said "f@(k it" and hit share on it.. a few hours later, i get a long text letter from my mom (who was a fb friend of mine) telling me the typical "good luck finding friends in the world" and how we have "nothing in common anymore"; basically, it was a 'farewell' text.
pale.emperor, ha ha! But what's the likelihood of sharing a post about a book one hasn't read? The elders will still consider sharing the post as encouraging others to read this book, whatever you say.

in the netherlands, a tv crew for powned (a website/tv station known for their non-conventional approach and love for controversy) visited a circuit assembly.
the video starts with them asking 'is everyone welcome here, even criminals, bikers, gays?
', and the answer is of course yes.. then the clip focuses on asking dubs questions about gays and the caleb video.. in the end the crew is asked to stop filming and leave.
