honestly I don't think whether they want to help in their heart effects whether their helping in practice. most dr.'s I have dealt with(which is more than plenty all specialists to) are taught in school a certain way of treating people and tend not to stray too far from that path, and when different methods are discussed they are dismissed as heresay. the point being while not really there fault they may not be helping them even though they genuinely want to in their heart because of how they have been taught to treat. but on the flip side ego and money have a part to play whether you admit it or not and dr.'s despise being told their not doing something right. personally I think all they are(shrinks what have you)are a placebo anyway, but I don't want to start anything we could start a whole new forum based on my beliefs. p.s. good that your family member is better by whatever means.

Psychologists Personas
by R.Crusoe inis the whole psychology framework a judging one?.
many categories lack impartial language and imply negatives to an excessive degree!.
the frame of reference is one similar to religious ideologies in many respects!.

your last sentence sums up my beliefs toward that field.(although far more eloquent and tasteful then I would have put it) I just never expressed it because it's such a sensitive subject to most people because the ones I know think they all have some mental problem, coupled with the fact I don't sugar coat things to make people feel better. so great job I found a new friend in thought.

what kind of epitaph do you want?
by Hortensia injust thought i'd carry the funeral thread a little further.
what do you want them to carve on your tombstone?
i'm inclined toward the smartass epitaph, something like "what are you looking at?

Why I don't want to associate with pioneers
by JimmyPage insometimes i get flak for not having more "spiritual" associates.
the reason i don't really care for pioneers is that whatever interests or hobbies they have get replaced by the whole pioneering thing.
they become less like normal people and become more a clone of what a good dub "should" be.

yeah when everything comment made is twisted into something "spiritual" like (me) I hope this rain lets up.(pioneer) oh yes it will be so nice in the new system when we don't have to worry about nasty days like these-cue brainwashed smile.(me) ...thinking if is possible for me to reach high enough to kick her in the head.

What the Hades is going on at the local Kingdom Hall?
by AK - Jeff inthe kh that i attended has always held it's meetings on sunday morning, and still does.
even on the days when the co visits there are normally only a handful of cars left in the parking lot after 3 pm, as the co typically quits service and heads home by 3 or 4, and besides, if you are not in his group it is usually 'take a few doors, count an hour, and get home in time to watch the game' attitude.
so today i drive by after work - it is 4 pm when i pass the kingdom hall, and the damned parking lot is just packed - maybe 45 or 50 cars in the lot.

How did you find this site?
by truthseeker init seems as though an age has passed from discovering this site seven years ago to where i am now.
just before we started studying the daniel's prophecy book, i went online to see if anyone had made a study bookmark with the dates and paragraphs on.
i "stumbled" across this site, way back in 2000. of course, like a good christian i pretty much determined that this site had gone apostate from the other jw sites, such.

the constant hounding to not look on the internet from the stage peaked my curiosity. best thing they ever babbled about.

People who "leave" but never LEAVE
by B_Deserter ini was talking to a friend of mine that i recently got into contact with.
we were talking about beliefs and how i don't believe in any god.
she told me she still has the same beliefs, but just doesn't like the people.

he "knows" he's "going down" at the big A, so he's just trying to enjoy life as much as possible before then. I heard an illustration in a talk YEARS ago that might help explain his stance. it was along the lines of a business man and a farmer. they both were asked if they knew the big A was coming in the next week what they would do, the business man said he would quit his job and dove head first into religion in hopes of living through it. and the farmer just said he would hope to get all his crops planted and when asked why he said because nothing he would do in the next week would have any bearing on what he's done in his life because it's not heartfelt. I don't know? sounded very similar to me personally. p.s. I'll be damned if I don't know how to quote, sorry

"Bad" songs at JW weddings
by B_Deserter inwhen i was in my teens, jw weddings were quite the social affair.
of course, the music was strictly regulated by the elders.
somehow though, in each wedding, someone managed to get the song "you shook me all night long" by ac/dc into the dj's rotation, and all of the "bad" witnesses would have a blast dancing to it.

I despise weddings to no end so I don't have a whole lot to remember from but the one I do remember. the music wasn't an issue do to the fact the father of the bride has major money and you know they don't wanna upset a living donation machine, and the whole family are complete A-holes so they probably didn't want to poke the badgers either.

correct me if I'm wrong deserter but if I'm following your thinking about your quote is that it may be easier for those people to leave even if they still believe they may feel they are still being "righteous" because they see other witnesses hypocrisy bible related or everyday actions and act or feel they act more truthful so that justifies their leaving because the others aren't following "theocratic order" so they have no problems not following them. and if thats not it then let's make my take on it.:D
