Hi Ann
Since the dissolution of the Book Study group in January 2009, some have felt the need to fill the void by meeting together in private homes to do their personal Bible study or preparation for the meetings. Well there is no need. That's why the 'faithful slave' saw fit to get rid of the arrangement in the first place. (Matthew 24:45-47) There is also the danger of independent thinking which could lead to apostasy. So quit it!"
Think that could happen?
Yes. Maybe not straight away but if brothers start studying too deeply, it'll get stopped.
My parents are elderly and they love the group. Its held during the day so they can avoid going out in the cold one evening a week. They also have social gatherings once a month with regular theatre trips, all just for their group. They'll really gonna miss it so much as it meant the world to them. I feel really sad for them.

Has the mass exodus begun?
by kool aid man06 init's truly exciting to see all of the "rapid fire" changes taking place in the watchtower org.
buildings are being sold, kingdomhalls are "compressing", bethelites are being sent home, watchtower format changing to public issues and private issues, more and more judicial committee meetings being held for apostasy.
(the watchtower is dead it just hasn't fallen over yet!

The internet is the most powerful external weapon against the Watchtower. The most powerful internal one is themselves. With all these changes the more savvy of the brothers will begin to see all this maneuvering for what it is. Desperation.

Would you have gone in SERVICE if you hadnt been required to report time?
by LovesDubs ini remember reading...i think it was ray franz's book (how is ray anyway?
) that the gb said that the sheep "couldnt be trusted" to do anything voluntarily and therefore they couldnt stop the reporting arrangement because nobody would go.. since the statistics clearly clearly clearly indicate that going door to door doesnt work and in fact the number of hours spent bringing just one person into the organization amounts to like 8 hours a day every day for a year...youd think the society would get with the times and eliminate that method.
and...jesus never went door to door anyway.

I quite enjoyed going and I got good at it. It wasn't the need to count time that got me out door knocking. I really thought I was doing God's will by field service. (Matt 24 v 14 and all that) The time only became important if I auxillary pioneered.
Soon as I figured out the Organization was a fraud I really struggled. What do you do when your main goal is to push a magazine or a book which you think has the truth, then discover that said mag or book doesn't have the truth after all. What do you do next? Where does the conversation go? I tried using just the bible but found I didn't really know what I was talking about. People were far more clued up on what the bible actually said than I was, and that was after 21 years of field service training!
Figured I wasn't working for God after all but a publishing company in NY.

happy?
thinking this proves the end is nearer than ever??

I think it will depend on the group. My mum and dad have their group during the day for older ones. Its a lively gathering with tea and biscuits afterwards, a games evening once a month and regular days out and trips to the theatre arranged. All just for this group.
I think they're gonna miss this alot.

I was "disinvited " to my younger brothers babies shower
by sosad inbecause one of the jw invitees heard i was coming and was now part of babylon the great.
just to clarify - i am part of nothing in the religious sense- my kids and husband are very catholic but i am not.. i was invited and trying to get the address after making considerable efforts to attend due to plain old busy life.. it seems "new light" says i, a fader of over 20 years is not welcome to a gathering where jws are present.
but - not just jws - there would be many other religious denominations present in the form of aunts, grandmothers, parents etc.

Tell as many people as you reasonably can within the bounds of normal conversation. The more ordinary people know how ex witnesses are treated, the more they're likely to be told to take a hike at the door.
I'm regularly treated badly at my son's primary school and where I work. Many of the mums at the school and my work colleagues have asked me why I'm treated like a pariah by former friends. I don't hold back from letting them know. The all-important JW reputation as fine, happy loving christians has hit the dust with about 100 people.

Hi Blondie Thanks for your hard work!
I found paragraph 14 made me angry. Not YOUR take on it but the misapplication of the scripture written in there. To quote:
"14. Never should our desire to be yielding, though, lead us to compromise with apostates. Our clear, firm stance in this regard is needed to preserve the purity of the truth and the unity of the congregation. Regarding "false brothers," Paul wrote: "To these we did not yield by way of submission, no, not for an hour, in order that the truth of the good news might continue with you." (Gal. 2:4, 5) In the rare instance that apostasy does appear, devoted Christians will remain firm for what is right."
When Paul referred to "false brothers" at Gal 2 v 4-5 it was a reference to those that insisted on the law for christians. It was exactly those like the Governing Body who insist on brothers obeying the "full body of theocratic law" that Paul called false brothers.
I just found it really disgusting that the GB can twist a scripture round so badly to point the finger at those that disagree with their rules when the very scripture they quote actually applies to them!
When I know that my parents will be at the hall tomorrow lapping up this rubbish and thinking badly of me because of it, my contempt for the GB just grows deeper.
