Perhaps if people on here were more supportive of the good he does and less hyper-critical of the occasional slip-up, maybe Rick wouldn't feel the need to be so defensive.

PROTESTS AT WATCHTOWER CONVENTIONS
by Lawrence Hughes indear friends,.
as you may know, the watchtower society takes great pride in its district conventions.
please contact me if you can attend any of these protests.. there is no reason why every district convention in the world could not have a protest and receive media coverage to expose the watchtower society.

Evil prevails while good men remain silent.
Did Steve Hassan remain silent about the evil of cults? Did Ray Franz remain silent about the inner workings of the WT? Did Don Cameron remain silent about the errors of the Society? Does Barb Anderson and Bill Bowen remain silent about abuse and scandal within the WT?
No.
Each in their own respective ways these people have exposed the WT publicly and we are all the better for their efforts. Would you have told them to just "get over it and move on"? Or are you grateful for their efforts?
Some choose to use the written word, some choose to use the media and public forums, some choose public protests. As far as I see it, whatever method exposes the huge damage of the WT Society and makes new recruits hesitate before joining can only be a good thing.
I say thank God for the courage and tenacity of people like Rick. Not everyone agrees with his methods but he has bravely faced opposition from JW's and non-JW's alike in his continued efforts to expose the Watchtower.
So for God's sake get off his back! Aren't we supposed to be on the same side?

How do i come out of this DAMN closet???
by TimothyT inhi everyone.. its been 3 months since accepting my sexuality.
im now very happy, im getting to know a lovely guy and im becoming more and more open about who i am.
within the congregation, im slipping away rapidly, and to be quite frank i couldnt care less what they think.. there is only one issue in my mind - the response from my dad when i tell him that i am gay.

Hi Tim
thats a toughie. How do you think your father would react to the news? Is he a very hardline JW or does family come first? Would his position as an elder or MS be affected by the news? Or would the "damaged reputation he would have to deal with in the eyes of the congregation affect the way he treats you?
Only you know how important these things are to him, and therefore only you know how he might react. But whatever you decide, you are being true to yourself and that is ALWAYS a good thing in the long term.

Real Jehovah's Witnesses (djeggnog, StandFirm, etc), I'm trying to understand you.
by pirata ini'm an active jehovah's witness.
i've obviously lost my faith, that's why i don't feel bad posting here anymore.
i'd probably be disfellowshipped as a division causing, teaching, apostate, faster than you can say "maher-shalal-hash-baz" (isaiah 8:1), should it be found out that i was posting here and did not repent of the things i've said and stop participating in this forum.

Sorry but I disagree. The internet is FEARED by the Governing Body, not embraced by it. This powerful tool of communication has been around for well over 20 years now and still the Witnesses refuse to use it to its full potential. In fact its a medium thats not encouraged outside of official WT control, and even the FDS don't exploit its advantages.
If the end of this system is so very very close, and if the message that the Witnesses preach is life-giving and vital for salvation. If there is no other way of surviving armageddon except by joining JW's and if they are the ONLY ONES commissioned with this task - why on earth hasn't Jehovah told His representatives to use every and all mediums to shout the message from the rooftops? Don't they want to save lives? Instead the primary tool of reaching people remains the incredibly ineffective, time-consuming and labour-intensive method of door-knocking, with its high percentage of not-at-homes and ineffectual message delivery.
Many millions now have internet access in their own homes or at work. In an official capacity the Society could use social networking sites, personal email, advertising space, blogs, and news sites to get the kingdom message out to the masses before its too late. Do they? No. Why? Because they are afraid of the internet. Afraid that this medium has too much accurate information about them that they can't control. For the sake of their survival as an Organisation, its much better if they kept a low profile on the internet and continue to discourage its full use by the brothers. That way the Society can avoid answering awkward questions by interested ones with the proclivity to google and continue to sanitise the flow of information to the brothers already under their control.
The WT will never use the internet in the way that you hope 1pnt. It will be the death-knell for them as an organisation if they do. And survival of the Organisation is the absolute priority above everything else. Anything or anyone that might threaten that survival is labelled as evil and demonised accordingly.

How many received the memorial invitation?
by IMHO inhow well is this territory being covered?.
how many on here (active jws excluded) received an invitation?.

Nothing. Haven't had an invite verbally or written since I left 4 years ago despite being surrounded by witnesses and have family in. Shows how much 21 years of friendship really means. Ah stuff 'em

What a great way to spend the day! Congratulations to little cantleave and his traffic calming efforts.
I sold at a car boot sale today and made £170. Directly behind me was a brother and sister who had set up a stall covered in old literature to give away, they were v-e-r-y quiet.
But I guess it was easy time when you're pioneering.

Proof That The "Truth" Is A Cult
by metatron inonce upon a time, an elder approached brother discouraged in the back of the kingdom hall.
he said, "we've missed you at the meetings.
is there some problem?".

To be honest I can see the elders being just as twitchy about someone doubting God as the Governing Body. For to doubt the Governing Body IS to doubt God in their eyes. For the Governing Body is God.
That, to me is why they're a cult.
