Bite me,
I am going to have to go with the crowd on this one. I think it will be a restructuring of the meetings.
Ending of service would be a bit of a jump at this current junction in time.

Who CONFIRMED the BIG announcement about the Book Study?
by Alligator Wisdom inthis seems to be the topic of the week, if not this year.. out of the many points and countless threads about this topic, many have been speculative and of the reminiscing sort.
i was wondering how many confirmations we have about this.
there were only a few that sounded like confirmations that i found posted on this site.

Wild Speculations About Future Watchtower Changes
by DT inhere are some of my predictions.
i would enjoy hearing yours.. 1. the new merged meeting will eventually be shortened, perhaps to an hour and a half.. 2. more changes about the generation and 1914. they will talk about 1914 less and possibly drop it or change it when people.
stop paying much attention to it.

They will change the blood card ever so slightly to be a "will" of sorts that will give all of their material goods and money to the society.
Or perhaps add a question to the baptism questions about giving your everything to the society after you die. -

The Whining on this Site
by easyreader1970 inthis is sort of a response to lex talonis' message but i thought it warranted a separate topic.
i am both offended and encouraged by his suggestion that most of us here are just whiners.
i think it is encouraging that he wants the watchtower society's mentally damaging message stopped.

Um, could you apply some formatting? I got lost around the 3rd line.
Thanks!
Edit: here let me help...
This is sort of a response to Lex Talonis' message but I thought it warranted a separate topic.
I am both offended and encouraged by his suggestion that most of us here are just whiners. I think it is encouraging that he wants the Watchtower Society's mentally damaging message stopped. At the same time, I think that he has to understand that many people are extremely limited in what they are able to do.
In addition, as someone mentioned, some people are fortunate enough to escape the insanity and they are so involved with their new found freedom that they don't even think about the Witnesses anymore and the people they left behind.
My situation is this: I have been a witness since I was a pre-teen. That is when my family became Witnesses. I am now almost 40. I no longer believe that the Witnesses have the Truth and there were only a few times during my life with them that I believed that they did. I am married with three children. My wife is your typical JW soldier. She is seriously indoctrinated. She is highly intelligent but when it comes to anything to do with messages from the Watchtower, she is obedient and takes her thinking cap off, as she has been instructed.
It doesn't have to make sense. "Do as you are told," as the Watchtower likes to repeat over and over. Therefore I can't share my beliefs or opinions with her. Believe me, she would have me in front of the elders in record time. So what I can I do? Not a whole lot if I don't want my family destroyed.
It's easier for a single person to stop going than it is for a person with a family. Maybe if my kids were approaching adulthood I could live, even if I am shunned, knowing that I raised them. If I left now, and my wife separated from me I would be very limited in the raising of my children. So when I come on these message boards "whining", it is not because I am a coward who is sitting idly by. There really isn't anything I can do right now. My wife is already constantly upset with me because I don't have the "gung ho" attitude that she has or what the Watchtower says I should have. But that's as far as I am willing to go in revealing my true self.
A true revelation would be destructive. I am sure there are many people here, perhaps some silent lurkers, who are in similar situations. Does the Watchtower Society need to be stopped? Sure. Chipping away at congregation members on a small level won't do anything, though. You might convince one out of five hundred to actually use their brains a little bit, but for the large part the Organization will keep moving on, crushing souls and independence.
Something must be done, yes. Who should do it? I don't know. I am hoping for a major slip up by the Governing Body themselves. One that they can't smooth over. But that may be just wishful thinking. -

I dont want this post spinning off.
Apart from V, who else is doing something other than whine on this site?
Tell me your stories!
I thought I would create an army of clones and dress them up as "Storm Troopers" and go take over the JW World Headquarters.
If anyone wants to assist in building the cloning machine, I am looking for some help.
In the mean time, I am trying to maintain peace with my JW family and slowly ease them toward leaving the religion too. -

brilliant counsel elder style
by *Incubus inwhen i was 14 i decided to dissassociate myself.the elder flipped and met with me and my parents.i shared my feelings about the hypocrisy that i saw in the teachings and actions of the witnesses.i was assured that i simply needed to pray more and that i was too young to comprehend the incidents which had made such a negative impression on me.. .
then they went on to liken my feelings to a man who had a handful of diamonds but could only see the dust on them.. did you ever receive counsel that belittled the real issue?

I just talked to a friend (Zelda) who recently got a marking talk.
She called the elders, since they hadn't talked to her in about a year.
they said they tried to contact her - which was a lie. Then they told her, just make it easy on us and write a DA letter. -

Do you like yourslef?
by R.Crusoe ini find this question another i hate to think of!!.
i view myself through others which is a reality of zilch so it is bad karma for me to consider it!.
maybe its circumstantial of many life events but i'll bet exjws feel the power of the above dynamic as a negative force for humanitarian ectics and personal self worth!

Jehovahs Witnesses care for victims of child abuse RELEASE
by NotaNess ini'm sure this article has come up on the forum.
can any one give me information on the numbers quoted below, in respect to them being inaccurate, correct, or what the number is more like, when you add in jw's that aren't elders, where it seems like they fail to mention here.
it almost seems they try and minimalize the the amount of abuse by only speaking of the elders here.

Let's also remember that in lawyer speak in order for an elder to be considered "sued", it actually has to hit the courts.
therefore, settling out of court does not count as being sued.
Hmmmm, I wonder how many JWs know that? -

Michael Jackson as a JW ...
by Frequent_Fader_Miles indo you believe that the jw factor in michael jackson's life contributed in any way to him being a misfit of sorts?.
i'm wouldn't describe myself as a fan of his, but sometimes i just feel so sorry for the poor guy.. and now it's even worse!
he's responsible for children who're probably thinking that it's everyone else who's weird!

I think anyone who has to grow up before their time, will end up spending their life trying to live as a child.

Anyone DF'd and you DID'NT know why?
by avishai inalmost never in all the halls i've been in, it was always common knowledge.
-
metaspy
Yes, but I could only think of one.
There was a sister who divorced her husband (He was a brother) because of neglect (spiritual and physical).
She was DF'd.
She came to all the meetings and such.
After 6 months she starts bringing this guy with her.
Then about another 6 months later, he gets DF'd for screwing some lady.
Then she marries the guy, and gets reinstated.
I would assume that she was screwing the guy she married, but that is only an assumption.
To me, it didn't add up, he wasn't even around at that time period.
