"you're gonna have fun, even if I have to break every bone in your body!"
(gotta love 'forced fun')
"who put a nickel into you?"
(translates to Shut up)
"you are never too old to be spanked, mister!"
(this usually went along with the 'evil eye' that she was good at giving)
"Stop being a piece of crap"
(um this was in reference to any of us not wanting to do what she thought we should be doing.)
"DONT..." (evil eye again)
(a bluff, she has no idea what we were doing, but she felt she needed to give a warning shot first)

Threats My Mother Made...
by Frannie Banannie inmy mother was a short (5'2") red-headed, blue-eyed irish woman.
i was just sitting here thinking about some of the bizarre threats she used to make, either to us kids or to someone else that had her dander up.
we always knew they were threats and would rofl or lmao most of the time when she made one.

Decided not to wait.........put the videos on YouTube....
by ButtLight ini only have 2 of the videos up there.
but you can watch them.
i would have rather waited to put them up to view in windows media player, cause they are easier to see.

OK... I have watched many times.
They are definitely not glitches in the camera. As others have pointed out, it is just too complicated to be a simple camera glitch.
They are definitely not dust. Dust does not move without an outside force.
I have not ruled out an insect. It is doubtful because of the season. However, I have bugs in my house (ladybugs mostly) even though it has been 10 to 20 in temp around here. In the dark they would be invisible to the eye, but would come up on your night vision screen. I am assuming you use the night vision with the light off - with the light on, it tends to 'blind' the night vision. Especially since bugs are known to fly in any direction, both straight up and in circles like the two videos.
I am not saying it isn't spirits, but at this point I would go with the bug theory. -

Things YOU eat, that other people think is weird.
by misanthropic inthis mornings events have got me thinking about things.
i love peanut butter, not the sweet kind but i like the old fashioned peanut butter, usually laura scudder's with no sugar or preservatives - it just tastes better imo.
i put it on everything including pancakes which are really good with peanut butter and maple syrup.

Ok, I have one that I started eating when I was in grade school.
I have met no one but myself who likes these - or even can stomach them:
Peanut butter, pickles and pepperoni on a tortilla - nuked for 30 seconds to melt the PB.

What did you have to dispose of when you became a dub?
by exwitless inlittle drummer boy's comment on the d&d thread made me think about this:.
when i became one of the borg, i threw out about $600 worth of pnp materials and books, a fact that i was proud of at the time and which makes me sick now because almost all of it is irreplaceable.
he also threw away who knows how many cds that were "bad" for dubs; also threw away a framed picture of a dragon that was really cool, and maybe some cool rock band t-shirts.. i don't remember having to physically throw away a lot of stuff, but i had to resign from the citizen's band i was in (played the clarinet), threw away my good friends from high school, etc.. what did you all throw away when you became dubs that you regret now?.

I was more or less raised as a JW. However, my mom got baptised when I was 5. So, until then we had "bad" things - especially since my dad never was a JW. When he left, so did the 'bad' things.
Complete set of StarWars action figures in MINT condition. (I could be retired right now)
A few NES games that were considered questionable.
a few hundred G.I. Joes
I feel like there were other things, but I cant think of them right now... -

in regard to Scully's comment about no knowing that Mr. Scully had "DA'd himself":
In my old cong. the Presiding Overseer had a couple of people "DA by action".
They too were shocked and dismayed when they walked into their old hall and no one would talk to them.
The elders whisked them away to the elder's room and explained to them what happened.
One brother was reinstated because it was a misunderstanding.
Just one of the reasons I changed halls - I didn't need to go on a vacation to come back DA'd. -

I personally had a favoritism to Ra - the Egyptian Sun god
I played some video games (NES and Computer) where Ra was featured.
NES - Nightshade: you get an item called the staff of Ra which shoots fireballs. (only 5 times)
Computer - Laura Bow 2: Dagger of Amon-Ra: the dagger of Ra plays into the plot, plus there was a group in the basement that said "Ra -Ra Shish boom ba" I found it to be funny. -

I never played DnD because I was not allowed to.
I have played many Zelda games. Go figure.
From the lack of response, many here must not play either.

So what random rules did YOUR elders impose?
by brunnhilde inevery cong has them, the petty dictators who make up arbitrary rules and insist that the rank and file follow them or pay the penalty.
a couple mine had - sisters could not have skirts that were either too short (above the knee) or too long, below the mid-calf - either extreme was worldly.
also, in order to have privileges (cause there were so many wonderful and fulfilling things for women in the borg) sisters must wear pantyhose.

Rule 1: Brothers and sisters of an age less than 30 and not married could not work together.
To illustrate: 2 brothers (ages 21 and 20) and 2 sisters (ages 23 and 19) show up to the service group.
No one else shows up except for Brother Group Splitter, who tells them to go out in service as two groups of 2.
One of the Brothers, one of the sisters.
Rule 2: No friendships between minors and 18+, elders were the exceptions.
it was this imaginary line that was not to be crossed.
To even invite a young person over to a gathering, or associate with them was to cast yourself as a pedo.
Rule 3: Video games were evil.
To own a Nintendo, PS, or Xbox was taboo.
Until one of the elders' sons got a nintendo - then it was ok.
Rule 4: THOU SHALT NOT HAVE AN OPINION DIFFERENT FROM THE ELDERS!
although I put this last, it was "more important" to many of the elders.
It was especially hard to know what their opinion was in matters not covered by the WBTS.
It was hard to know what their opinion was in matters covered by the WBTS.
I don't know what the rules are yet in my new cong... -

I almost had my hands on the letter at my hall.
the brother giving the demo left it on the chair of the Secretary without his knowledge
He was leaving, I was the last one at the KH.
Then it occured to him that he never got the letter back.
He asked me to check if there was anything in his seat(I already knew there was).
I got the letter for him.
If he would have forgotten for just 1 minute more, I could have put the letter in my bookbag.
