The vote is in: SCIENCE vs RELIGION......who won?
by Terry inhistory has demonstrated:.
religion is following orders by implicitly trusting someone or something.. science asks questions.. religion purports to answer questions.. science seeks to disprove its own conclusions.. religion seeks to reinforce its own dogma.. science is error-correction toward adjusting for realities as they unfold.. religion internalizes against reality by mocking up a substitute.. science is the most recent development of the human mind.
technology proves science to be successful in advancing human progress.. religion disdains human progress and waits for the end.

When "friends" let you down...
by Crumpet inhave you ever been in a position where you really needed your friends - ie a relationship break down, or some other event and expected your friends to rally and support you.
only to find that those friends are nowhere to be seen or heard and when you tentatively enquire how they are in the hope for some kind response you get - "oh well you'll get over it.
" or words to that effect and by email.. i have as you can guess a reason and recent experience of my own that i'll share later, but i wondered how do you handle that?

Most of your argument are about what's best for everybody (from YOUR perspective) but then your insistence to not taking everybodies arguments and consideration in the matter of spiritually (through a religion if they want to / Their right) shows that you ONLY want to win ... (is that a survival need? no it's a very self oriented spiritual need - it's also a right but since it is self oriented it doesn't have to touche everybody but those who also want to win)
People do think (for themself for most) and since there is no real new arguement - their opinion is already made) you can add whatever you want (unless it is a new argument) it's only nitpicking - and then why reading? That's when we might miss the real argument sunk in the whole (take care)
And just as a reminder do not confuse religion and spirituality. I invite you to just forget about religion for a while and open your Spirituality and you might realise that it's enough to be clear (don't worry on this matter you'll always fine people on your very particular side), and YOU WILL SURVIVE WITHOUT WINING every time (you won't loose your identity in being open spiritually and you just need to be more open to other people PERCEPTION) but this is again about a personnal choice. I'm not going to force it on you. -

what's your sign baby? ;)
by freedomloverr inwhere we live is a very *new agey*, *earthy* area.
when i was a witness i never thought twice about my astrological sign or how it relates to anyone else.
here, people are always asking what my sign is and i've really been entertained by how i see patterns with people in my life and how i've noticed i'm actually attracted to certain *signs* .

Cancer ...
Editted to add : No I don't read horoscopes, (but for instance yesterday at the bowling - my niece had 2 magazines and their was 2 horoscopes in there for march ... which were differents statements).
But I do believe that somehow (there is a link in the same types and also some alchiminy in between some types) but then it is all still related to (who we are in totality)
Editted twice to correct a word (types for time ) and some double words -

Well I guess this might kill the thread for good (I'm sorry if it does)
Crumpet : What does RAF stand for - is it your initials or something else? Here it stands for Royal Air Force - so everytime I see you I think of a sharp torpedo jet! ;-)
Sharp torpedo jet ? That’s interesting … LOL … well I wasn’t expecting to use this nickname very long (because of a Logging bug on Frenchbabyface) so it was not something I gave any specific time into.
But those are the reasons why it came out as RAF
It’s related to the first post I wanted to post (which I thought I would have call it Run Away Folks – the thread was about what really make two of my sisters really think about the JW’s doctrine / so it was most for JW lurkers – which was explainable form a biblical perspective) and I liked the set of initials as RAF because for the topic it also can be read as a sound, like a dog barking.
But Narkissos which is French had an other idea on the subject that really made me laugh … in French : J’en ai “Rien A Foutre” which could be translated somehow as “I don’t F*cking Care” … and the more I thought about it and the more this would have been more appropriated because it is somehow the kind of nickname I’ve got for a long time in French (“je m’enfoutiste” which could be translated as : She doesn’t care everything”) Not because I don’t care for real, but I only care regarding to “why” something not “what” only and some people don’t like that because it doesn’t help them to have some power on some others by saying things which should have touched most of people.
Actually I’m very, very, very sensitive, way more sensitive than most people think, but not for the same reasons than most people think I should or would it is somehow related to my interest of understanding the whys which takes over.
