  Sad News Orangefatcat's husband died this morning.

  this is one of the sadest days in my life, my beloved husband marco passed away this morning at 5:15 am.. it has been a dreadful day.

  but my dear friend was with most of the day while we went togerther to make funeral arrangements.. that was really hard on me.

  i have done nothing but cry and cry all day, i finally fell asleep a few hours ago while my friend diane was here and she let me sleep.

  i've met some wonderful friends here at this forum, but it's time for me to put the jw religion to rest.

  it will be 15 years this october that i daed myself which in retrospect i wish i wouldn't have done as there are some former sisters who i would love to give a big hug and talk with who are in pain mentally, but i can't.

  i agreed to their "rules" when i was baptized.

  dear all,.

  this is my first vacation free of the borg, and i would like to share some of my feelings:.

  university (the evil place where you learn critical thinking) has just stopped, and after a semester of hard and succesful study it feels like sliding into a warm bath.

  This is my first vacation free of the Borg, and I would like to share some of my feelings:

  University (the evil place where you learn critical thinking) has just stopped, and after a semester of hard and succesful study it feels like sliding into a warm bath. I love the things that I do there, but as our friend Salomon said, there is a time for everything :)

  Almost seven days per week of total freedom :)

  In the morning, I get up early and read literature, then I make my breakfast. I take a shower, and begin the day with translating some Coptic manuscripts to prepare for an exam next semester.

  Then I finish the book I started in when I woke up. After lunch, I walk through the house and the garden and talk Persian to myself to practice conversation and have some exercise. I also translate some poetry.

  Then I start in a new book, or a play, or a book of poetry.

  Then I practice conversational Latin via podcast for a couple of hours.

  In the evenings, I watch a film with some friends, or go out, or read or translate some more, whatever I feel like doing.

  Life is wonderful, the death sentence has been lifted, I have walked out of prison.

  I walk through the city park. I watch mothers with little children feeding the ducks.

  They will not be destroyed by some vengeful God.

  The sun, shrouded in clouds, shines bleak upon one of a billion worlds, and I live on that little world. There is no greater purpose than to be happy and smile at other human beings.

  Great is the world, and its Creator, and great is mankind.

  Believe me, leaving is hard, but in the end it is worth it.

  This is the most sickening, illogical piece of argument I have read in a long, long time. The ideology just drips off... bah!

  Good thing I've been trained in ideological criticism using an evil wordly education hehe

  So for all who are interested, lurkers etc, here's the structure:

  ---

  Ideological Superstructure: put Jehovah first, trust, dangers of education blabla, too much time, spoiling good habits yada yada

  Base Structure: Don't get an education because it might start you thinking and (gulp!) questioning our authority

  ---

  It is ALL about maintaining POWER over you.

  Assignment for DC: Dismantle the ideology in each talk and find out how it tries to maintain the POWER and AUTHORITY of the WTBTS
