lets just face it humans are odd.. nearly all here are proof of it.. we were able at one time to believe so fully in an idea that we gave our lives to it , and now we dont.. although this subject has been discussed many times before it is something that frustrates me , big time.. well we all at one time thought we knew it all.
the meaning of life the real history of human kind why we die why there is suffering and many more of lifes mysteries were plain and simple to us.. gradually came the realisation that things were not as we had thought.. what was once so obvious was now so obviously wrong.. so how do humans manage to believe fervently on issues that to others make no sense?.
is there a magic explanation or piece of logic that can convince any witness with a functioning mind the error of their beliefs?.

Now, if there was a huge assembly of JWs in Yankee Stadium, like there was in 1954 (was it?), and the final act in the assembly was a mass suicide via cyanide-laced Kool-Aid THEN you'd get the attention of the media. But not for long.
As we've seen, crashing a couple of jetliners into large buildings is enough to get the media off the scent of whatever it is that's on their minds and focus it somewhere else.

When we refer to someone as a Jw we mean one that follows the teachings of the Wbt sociaty.
Sorry, that's not right. JW is everybody who is (or become) "witness of the existence of YHVH/JHWH", and of HIS "mode of operation" (in history as well as in future).

If you see an accident on the street wherein e.g. a car got involved at which you are able to identify the mark of the car and the guilty driver, then you become witness of the accident (the "event") but not certainly you do not become witness of the company who sold the car or manufactured it.
WTS see themselves as "faithful and discreet slave" who gives the "food at the proper time". A slave is a slave. He is not to be worshipped. He shall be praised if he carefully does the instructions he is given by his master; but not beyond this.
Note: WTS see all worshippers of the ancient time as JW, as witnesses for Jehovah, from Abraham to Moses, from David to Jesus Christ. Were they member of the WTS ?

I already told folks here: JW and WTS is not the same. Jehovah had exist 15 billion years before the WTS; and he will be existing 15 billion years after WTS.
Jehovah is not a God who somebody could sorcer out of a hat - together with a rabbit.

My opinion is:
"To be or not to be" a JW (a worshipper of the Almighty God YHVH/JHWH), is not a matter of "to be or not to be" a worshipper of WTS. Please contemplate the matters carefully, and have ability to distinct them.
My opinion is: In a process of gaining cognition, scientist (even those are atheists) will get soon more and more a provable evidence of the fact of an existence of a "higher source" in the universe.
This process will change everything you can imagine. No stone will remain on the other.
Same will happen when scientists find the proof that life-duration of human beings could be lengthened ten-fold and more (gen-therapy, new medical knowledge etc.) These inventions will drive up the worlds-changing-process to an incredible climax.

I am sure, that there will be no earth-wide slaughter.
If God indeed 'd wanted to deal in this way, he had occasions enough.
E.g. at the end of WWI and WWII, or when communists-states-block in 1989/90 has collapsed.
