I understand why people are elated, but the cheering and dancing in the streets just reminds me of video footage of Muslims dancing in the streets post 9/11. I don't want to stoop to that level.
If they we're cheering because we destroyed the Burj Kalifa, and thousands of innocent civilians, then yeah that would be stooping to their level. We killed the person behind terrorist attacks that intentionally targeted civilians around the world including the WTC.

Atlas Shrugged Part 1
by littlerockguy inwent and saw atlas shrugged part 1 at the rave theater here in little rock friday night.
i was surprised it showed here since it had such a limited showing.. anyway i was really surprised at how well it was done on such a limited budget and a very tight and short schedule to have the whole picture done and it really followed the book very well.
i went to the 7:15 showing and the theater was packed but but not sold out.

Live Action Role-Playing coming to a Family Worship Night near you!
by Mr. Falcon inlately, i have seen demonstrations and interviews on stage of guys who are bragging about how they incorporate dressing up in costume and reinacting bible accounts for their family worship night.. .
family worship evening: serious business.
this kind of bafoonary and other assorted silliness is encouraged to make family worship "fun and enjoyable".

Earth's magnetic field is generated by the core. According to theory it acts like a dynamo. Part of the energy from solar flares (CMEs) that hit the magnetic field are released in the form of northern, and southern lights.
So no, solar flares do not cause tectonic disturbances. -

Any Stock Holders out there? I need Financial Advice. No...not which stocks I should buy.
by Voices inok first off let me ease your worry...i'm not asking you 'what stocks i should invest in.
' i have a stock in mind that i have seen progress steadily up and up.
before i could even think about investing, i knew this company was going to take off and it's slowly climbing.

If you buy and hold it you will not owe taxes on it unless you sell it within a year then you will owe capital gains. If you sell after a year you will owe a reduced rate or none at all depending on your income level, I think. If it is a stock that pays dividends, and you choose to receive the dividend as a payment you will have to pay taxes on that, if you reinvest the dividend you will pay a reduced rate. Look up qualified, and unqualified dividends.

Favorite cartoons and cartoon characters
by littlerockguy ini love cartoons but i'm not much into the ones on tv today, except south park.
my favorites are the looney tunes characters, pink panther and some of the hanna barbera characters like snagglepuss, droopy, etc.. here is an old pink panther episode from 1965 that cracks me up.
what are some of your favorites?.

Gargoyles was one of my favorite cartoons. Plus for extra nerd value several of the voices were done by Star Trek TNG actors.

Model Says Religiosity Gene Will Dominate Society
by darthfader in(physorg.com) -- in the past 20 years, the amish population in the us has doubled, increasing from 123,000 in 1991 to 249,000 in 2010. the huge growth stems almost entirely from the religious cultures high fertility rate, which is about 6 children per woman, on average.
at this rate, the amish population will reach 7 million by 2100 and 44 million by 2150. on the other hand, the growth may not continue if future generations of amish choose to defect from the religion and if secular influences reduce the birth rate.
in a new study, robert rowthorn, emeritus professor of economics at cambridge university, has looked at the broader picture underlying this particular example: how will the high fertility rates of religious people throughout the world affect the future of human genetic evolution, and therefore the biological makeup of society.. http://www.physorg.com/news/2011-01-religiosity-gene-dominate-society.html.

One problem with Israel. The more secular population is being outbred by the more orthodox populations on both sides (jewish and islam). It can only lead to problems.
