Beautiful, but I can only get snippets of music about 7 seconds at a time. Then it stops for a while, and then resumes for another 7 seconds.
Do I have a lame computer, or ???
Thanks--

Looking on line is good, but try to buy your things from a local retailer!!!
When you see something interesting, call you local shops to see if they carry it.
If you need to have things shipped, call your local retailer. Most of them can ship to you or to anyone else on your gift list. Some even deliver free, especially in a local area. Ask them! In the US, if the retailer ships out of state directly for you, there is NO sales tax.
How will we feel in a few years when there are no STORES, because everyone has been buying on line? Small independent shops is where you get the excitement and variety in merchandise. If they close, it will be a big loss for everyone. Even a 10% drop in business for a small shop can be the difference between life and death.

could your son be gay???
by searchfothetruth inhow would you react if doctors come up with a test that could determine if your son would turn out to be gay when he grows up?
how would you react?
i personally, having two young sons myself, would not want to know.

The subject of "gay" comes up here from time to time. It usually develops into some pretty long threads. I think some people just do not "get" it.
My experience is gay people are born that way. They don't choose to be gay any more than other people choose to be straight. Many say they knew they were different from an early age --say 5 years old. How do you make a "lifestyle choice" at that age? Simple--you don't. It's hardwired into the individual.
Many indiviuals who appear to "change" from straight to gay are simply coming to grips with the fact they've been gay all along, but were in denial.
If you're straight, you can't make yourself gay. And vice versa.
Just my two cents.

How Many Here Have Been Shunned?
by Reborn2002 inas most of you already know, the jehovah's witnesses are covering an article in their august kingdom ministry to be discussed the weeks of 8/19 and 8/26 which details how they are to shun and avoid those who are no longer members of their organization, even immediate family members.. .
undoubtedly this article has been written to reinforce to the rank&file jehovah's witnesses the shunning policy, so as to tighten the ranks and prevent members from having the opportunity to learn the abundant contradictions and hypocrisies found within watchtower doctrine and practice from any who may have left.. this policy also serves to divide families and attempt to shame or abuse those whom have chosen to no longer be jehovah's witnesses, for whatever reason.. that much is obvious.
in recent days this topic has been discussed in detail in various threads.

Add me to the list of the SHUNNED!
A JW "sister" who got married in my house 20 years ago refuses to talk to me--she even called me up just to tell me that a couple of years ago. Another time, I had a "sister" turn and run away from me in a store. I was so shocked by her bizarre behavior, it didn't register was happening until she was out of sight.
I didn't have any contact with my MS son for three years. He would not return my emails or calls, and I eventually stopped trying to contact him. Oh, until last month when I told his sister (she's out, too) that I had a used refrigerator, washer and dryer he could have for his new house. He was surprised I would offer them to him, and he had no problem coming to get them. He was his pleasant "old" self for the short time I saw him. I then entertained the hope that perhaps the wall he had erected might erode. Perhaps an act of kindness on my part might heap firey coals on his head, and he might feel ashamed of his behavior. However, with this new KM, I expect the wall to be firmly reinforced. BTW, I am not DF'd or DA'd. Just gone.
Last year I was in the hospital for what was anticipated to be cancer surgery. Fortunately, the doctors were wrong and there was no cancer. My son knew of the diagnosis, but didn't even call me, much less visit me. My wonderful "worldly" friends sent mountains of flowers and gifts. My room was a virtual greenhouse! I was overwhelmed by the kindness of these friends.
You gotta love this cult and what it does to families. Oh, that's right, Jesus came to put a SWORD between familiy members, so it must be okay...

Would you employ a witness?
by sleepy inlets get all hypothetical.
lets imagine you are starting or have a business and you need an accountant.. one of your main concerns is their honesty.. you interview some potential employees.. they have very similar qualifications and experience.. the only difference is their religious beliefs.. person 1 is a catholic.. person 2 a moslem.. person 3 an atheist.. person 4 jehovah's witness.
(imagine you are not disfellowshiped so they wont shun you).

I've had several JW women employees over the years. They thought it would be so much "fun" to work at my business. A few have been great, but more have not. I've had some expect to leave work early whenever they've had a talk scheduled that evening! One didn't show up at all on a particularly busy day because she needed a few more hours in service that month. I had to call her house to find out where she was!
Many liked to bring their WT and Awakes to read on my time "when it's not busy". Not busy?--There are 1000 things which need doing!
I've also had the JW husbands of some of these women call me (the lowly sister employer) to counsel me in their manly voices why their wives couldn't make it in to work due to a more important theocratic or family pursuit. The women couldn't even call me themselves!
As you can imagine, most of these employees worked for me a very brief time before being let go.....
I finally got wise and hired "worldly" employees. They have been very trustworthy, motivated workers, and they stay out of my personal business! -

The brothers hacked my email!
by Erin injust learned that a group of jws hacked my email over a considerable period of time, hoping to intercept "incriminating" information in an attempt to disfellowship me!.
they printed up the emails and passed them out to other elders to "examine".
they were certainly very, very disappointed to not find anything they could "use".. the only outgoing emails from me they obtained were those attached to incoming mail as a result of some friends hitting "respond" when they wrote back to me.. the person who got into my email account is a ministerial servant who had previously worked on my business web site and therefore had my password.. he would download my email onto his computer, miles away, and then put everything back as "unread" so nothing would be "missing", when i accessed email from my computer.

I reported the activity to my email provider yesterday. They are unable to confirm the improper use, as their records merely show dates and times the internet is accessed. The technical support person said there are no records identifying which computer accesses the internet through my account. Based on that, I don't think I would have much to go on for any lawsuit. Or?
