Vocalization about being a JW v. being an XJW
by sweetface2233 ini know that a lot of jws are very proud of being jws, but ever since i can remember i would be very quiet about it.
i wouldn't announce it at school or work.
i would shy away from the subject.

I can see your point. However, for those of us raised as JWs, we really didn't have a choice in the matter. I never felt "fooled". I never believed the shit, anyway.

What "Unwritten Rules" Did Your Congregation Have?
by minimus ini knew of a hall that allowed only white shirted speakers on the platform for sunday public talks!
when a visiting speaker did not wear the official white shirt he was either told that he couldn't give the talk or he could change shirts,as the hall kept a variety of sizes, just in case of an emergency!!!

Where were you guys attending the meetings, Switerland? I have not once in my life seen a "brother" in the states w/ a beard. In fact, my ex-husband used to work in the Engineering Dept of a hotel and they were not allowed to have beards or goatees, either.

by bbdodger ini love to login to myspace and see if i can find some ex-jws, or active jws from (my) cong., or ones that i knew from other congs.. i came across a profile of someone i knew, who was in the same congregation.
her name isn't particularly common, and there is a resemblance, so i think it's most likely the girl who i went to kh with.. she says she's "atheist", and has a tattoos on her face, piercings, and her profile is decorated with naked women.

I have 2 tattoos and 3 body piercings. At first, I did them as rebellion to "Jehovah", whoever the hell that is supposed to be and my ex-husband. He said I couldn't get a tattoo. Yeah well, after he saw my naked ass w/ the pretty flower, he made sure I knew how sexy he thought it was.

I grew up in Smalltown, WV. At weddings, you could only dance if you were married or engaged. I remember one wedding inparticular where an older sister and a younger brother danced together; the Elders shut down the music and ended the reception.

I know that a lot of JWs are very proud of being JWs, but ever since I can remember I would be very quiet about it. I wouldn't announce it at school or work. I would shy away from the subject. Now that I am an XJW, I am very vocal. I've mentioned this discussion board to several of my current friends, co-workers, and aquaintences. They all ask me, "What kind of discussion board is it?" I proudly say, "An Ex-Jehovah's Witness discussion board!" Is anyone else more proud to be an XJW than they were to be a JW?
