I'm not as angry and bitter as I used to be, but it comes in cycles. It's like having been kidnapped and trying to explain where your life went before you got out. Why I'm just starting to create a "real" life at age 38, why I was married to such an incredible mismatch to me, why I have massive gaps in my knowledge about all kinds of normal things. Foolish, humiliated, sad, resentful, angry.

It feels like life is so much harder than it had to be. Its definitely better on the outside, but still, it just feels like I've lost so much that I can never get back, and I'm still trying to reconcile myself to that.

The important thing to remember here is the Dub vocabulary - huge to the normal person is not necessarily huge to the dubs. I mean these guys are experts at making anticlimactic statements! When was the last time as a dub you actually got excited over one of their "very important meetings?" It got to be more like, "stay tuned for a very special episode of Blossom"!!!!

anyway, i have never been a tv watcher, then in my jw life.....didn't have time.

I, too, am addicted to The Daily Show and Colbert Report. Guilty pleasures include Project Runway, Iron Chef America and Ace of Cakes. Eye candy would be Supernatural, for fun, Stargate Atlantis and for the smartest dialogue on I like Boston Legal. Probably the strangest show I love to watch is the Dog Whisperer - just can't get enough of that Cesar Millan. He's SO cute *grin*

i had no doubts at all about the 'truth' untill a friend of mine in the cong' began falling away.

in trying to help him i had to ask questions and do research and that of course cracked the doors of my mind open for the first time in over thirty years.. years ago, when jwd allowed members to have signatures, i used the following quote from voltaire as mine.

i still love it.. doubt is uncomfortable, certainty is ridiculous..

That Jehovah killed David and Bathsheba's child for their sin and that he was going to kill the children of parents who didn't become dubs even though they were completely innocent. After I had my own child it became ludicrous to me that my ethics and morals would be better than the god I was supposed to be worshipping as omniscient and omnipotent... Ultimately this went a long way towards my becoming atheist as well.

my mom's memory (mental clarity) has been slipping every day.

for the last three days she has insisted that we go and see dad (he passed away 2 months ago).

she wants to bring him his shoes or something (can't tell).

A minister decided that a visual demonstration would
add emphasis to his Sunday sermon.Four worms were placed into four separate jars.The first worm was put into a container of alcohol.

The second worm was put into a container of cigarette smoke.

The third worm was put into a container of chocolate syrup.

The fourth worm was put into a container of good clean soil. At the conclusion of the sermon, the Minister reported the following results:

The first worm in alcohol - Dead.The second worm in cigarette smoke - DeadThird worm in chocolate syrup - DeadFourth worm in good clean soil - Alive.So the Minister asked the congregation -

What did you learn from this demonstration? Maxine was sitting in the back, quickly raised her hand and said, 'As long as you drink, smoke and eat chocolate, you won't have worms!'

Why Jehovah Witnesses teach a more biblical faith

surprizeingly, i am not a jw but an observer and in partial agreement with the jehovah witnesses on many issues.

i have been to many churches in my 30 years and have studied many church beliefs, church history and the bible as well.

so why do i believe the jehovah witnesses are the one true faith of jehovah god?.

If you agree to be a JW then you should conform to the society's teachings and guidance or leave. There is no room for rebellion and that's the way it should be, if order and unity is to be practiced.

I'd be interested to know what your thoughts are about people who are born into the Jehovah's Witnesses and never have any real choice in agreeing. And please, do NOT tell me that if you are surrounded by teachings and never given an opportunity to experience or learn anything else that criticizes those beliefs, that you are somehow still "agreeing" to be a Witness.
