SNORT! I don't give a crap what they think (or don't think, more accurately). I understand why people go, and I understand why people are scared. The dubs have a big club they use. If they STOPPED dfing, there would probably be a mass exodus. They don't have a lot of options to keep people in the Borg. Even with that threat hanging over their heads, more and more are walking away...

I got my first tattoo about the same time I quit going to meetings. I agree, location, location, location - unless you're a cool cat like RichieRich! *grin* Getting a tat was like my declaration of independence, and during the months that followed when I was down or felt buried in dub dogshite, looking at my tat made me smile everytime. Even if I decide I hate it when I'm "sixty-four," I'm sure glad I went ahead and did it!

When I told my mom I was leaving the dubs, I said, "if that's who God really is then I won't worship him. It would be like worshipping a child abuser!" She looked completely bewildered *rolls eyes*

WE didn't go to the Memorial last night!!!
by Gill inwe didn't go to the memorial last night.. husband and self went to sainsburys and bought easter eggs for the kids and we bought the dvds of 'a night in the museum' and 'flushed away'.. easter egg consumption will commence on sunday as with the usual pagan ritual.. films have already been watched, enjoyed and watched again.. we went shopping half an hour before the memorial was due to start so that any jws going past would see we were consumed in our worldly pleasures!!
we also bought a load of reduced 'danish' and us and kids ate them with relish with a nice cup o' tea!.
ah!

This was my first year not going since I was born, and I didn't feel ANYTHING, not confused or guilty or anxious or happy - just numb, or maybe indifferent. Glad to hear you had a lovely time though *grin*

If I want to talk to them, I'm well aware of where the Kingdom Hall is. Next time I won't hide, but I won't answer the door either. Home, but definitely not hiding. And before you race to their defense, Mad, sometimes they're just a little TOO persistent, as was the "brother" who pounded on my back door and called and then went to the front door and pounded and called there too. He knew we were home and probably the only reason he left is because a friend was visiting with her large German shepherd who went nuts. That's not zealous, that's offensive and harassing and I'll be calling the police if it happens again.

Hmmmm, things are fairly fluid at the moment so given to change without any notice, but here goes: Mentally: I'd have to say 7. Sleep deprivation is a bitch! Financially: Also a 7. In debt for school, etc, but nothing I can't manage. Emotionally: Dealing with a LOT of fallout from the dubs, so periods of ecstatic joy followed by periods of rage, grief and fear. Also going through a divorce, so that adds to the rollercoaster ride. 5 Sexually: Just got hit on by a smart sexy woman and though I don't swing that way, it was flattering as all get out, lol! 7 Friendships: I have a small but very solid and supportive circle of friends. 9 Family relationships: Huh, I am reestablishing a relationship with my older brother for the first time in twenty years and I can't believe how much joy that brings me. Conversely my parents are growing more and more distant but I can't exactly say I regret that. 7 Work/Occupation/Education: This definitely is a 10. I love my job, I'm going to uni, which is what I've always wanted and I love it. Things are definitely improving. I think so many of us essentially put our lives on hold while we were dubs. There was no growth personally or emotionally. Everything was static and we refused to acknowledge reality, though that goes without saying. It might be worse in the short term, but there is no doubt in my mind the further from the dubs I get, the healthier and better my life will be! Great topic, Crumpet! and cheers for all of us who are moving on and living real lives away from the evil empire!!

They DO hate it, Crumpet!!! Why do you think they harangue them so much to do it! I hated every freaking second of it!!!
