What's the BEST thing about being "out" of the "truth"?

for me, it's having friends that i don't have to hide my lack of meeting attendance/service from.

it's amazing how they teach you that only jws can be your real friends, but in reality, it's all contingent upon your religious "performance.

" sure, if you're not going to meetings, they'll try to be "friends," by encouraging you to go back.

Saturday mornings,

weeknights relaxing with my family instead of struggling into prissy clothes to go sit and be bored,

having an opinion and not worrying if it "STUMBLES" someone,

not worrying about the blood issue if I or my family have surgery,

freedom to follow a thought WHEREVER it goes, driving my two-door coupe!

seeing my son fit in and having a great time at birthday parties,

not having to pretend to enjoy the "friends" when they're really bigoted, rascist, ignorant, pompous fools,

too many things to mention!

Those crazy J-dubs are getting aggressive

while at work today one of my co-workers came into my office and laid some watchtowers on my desk.

she knows that im a j-dub, faded, apostate, but ive explained to her about the whole deal of dfing and shunning and how for the purpose of my family ive just faded.

but she was telling me that one of her clients is a j-dub and offered her some magazines and she kindly refused but the lady wouldnt let up (basically bullying her) and insisted on how much she would enjoy them, so my co-worker (to be nice) took them.

I'm thinking about posting a sign that says, "Unless I have invited you to my home or you are a known friend, please respect my wishes and do not disturb the peace of my home."

hello again, i haven't posted lately as i have been trying to get myself together....baby steps...i'm in therapy now, finally with a good therapist !!!

I'm so happy to hear you've found some good help. I can really understand your anger. I struggle hugely with this issue, swinging back and forth between anger and fear. I have nightmares about being trapped in my parents house with the elders all trying to brainwash me back into the congregation. I have panic attacks when the dubs knock on the door of my new apartment.

Even though I've been out two years now, it's still hard but it's slowly getting better. You're right about the baby steps. This is a very very good place to come. No one else can really understand where you are and how feel besides the people who've been through this same experience. Even escapees from other fundy cults, like the Mormons just don't have the same language. Big welcome to you!

I'm a newly single mom so things were already hard. Rent just went up, food of course and gas is crippling, even with a car with great gas mileage. So yeah, it's a struggle. I'm hanging on waiting for the tax refund and stimulus check...

i just thought it might be interesting to see what everyone has planned for the weekend.

tonight is our last night of our mixed doubles bowling league.

we get the money for the how we did this past season, ach, that's ok. .

I couldn't agree more! I'm going to write my last couple of papers for the end of term, go to dinner at my brother's house and see my nephew, sleep in and just generally enjoy life! Oh, and get my apartment set up for my cat! She's been living with my ex and I finally scraped together enough for the pet deposit to bring her to live with me - I'm so happy! We might even have good weather! Considering that summer doesn't technically start in the Pacific NW until after the fourth of July fireworks, anything over 65 is fabulous!

Around what age do most Witnesses leave the organization?

my congregation had 85 members ten years ago.

today,there are only 46. the ones that left the organization were mostly between 18-25 years old.

i haven't seen many middle-aged or elderly leave.

I'd have to agree that usually it's the young people that get out as quickly as they can. I tried but caved under pressure when I was eighteen. I finally got out for good at 35. I think maybe it's like smoking, you have to try to quit more than once before you're successful...

Not in a gazillion years, but it was sure thoughtful of them to video it so we could see the beautiful view! I almost had a stroke when they did the balance beam act across that long stretch!

Ugh. I know it's childish, but even though I love espresso, I can't stand to even be ON their site, let alone reading their inane and horrible writing! Besides, I'm sure they said something annoying about not drinking too much of it or getting addicted or making our bodies a temple or something equally prissy and stupid.
