and a million another is thinking, or predict the date of something miraculous
(a Rapture or Armageddon, etc.) successfully.
Somewhere in the middle are more or less remarkable but ordinary ones, like a
political expert guessing who the next president will be of a few likely choices
or some of the more remarkable ones in the next paragraph.
Some people in history have shown good deduction and, with a little luck, pre-
dicted remarkable things. None were JWs leaders.

russell and barbour separated in 1879 and in just one short year barbour came to reject the idea that christ had returned invisibly in 1874. i only have one page of a july 1880 issue of the herald of the morning (page 2), but he clearly states:.
and he [jesus] will come back to the church, in like manner as they saw him go; and not in an invisible manner.. he goes on to explain the details of "our mistake.".

i always heard comments that there were faces and other objects in the falls on p 93. now i think i have finally confirmed this.
i scanned page 93 using only 300 dpi scanner and did some colour correction and sharpened the image a bit using photoshop .the result is surely jesus and there is also a face of a young kid below jesus.
now i think that the falls image contains a plurality of peoples faces, some people are standing and others just see the face only.. you can clearly make out a gash in jesus forehead.

i just unfortunately came back from the jw convention and ive only heard their side of the story i know that they use mind control tactics but i need to know what is wrong with there doctrines biblically.
i took a king james bible and seemed like what the were saying about the bible was true.
im never going to try going back to that religion again but i need to know that the only thing wrong with their religion isnt the mind control tactics they use.

1831: william miller begins preaching christ's return in the fall of 1843.. 1842: miller and followers begin publishing a journal, the midnight cry.. 1843, late: miller and followers disappointed; fix christ's return in the spring of 1844.. 1844, spring: miller and followers disappointed; fix christ's return on october 22, 1844.. 1844, late: miller and followers anticipate disappointment.. 1844, october 21: miller says: "i told some of my brethren christ would not come on the morrow" because the second coming would be "in an hour they think not".
I like the timeline. You might want to add Nathan Knorr's direct prediction in 1969 for Armageddon in 1975:
1969 "In July of 1969, President Nathan H. Knorr addressed 81,000 Witnesses
at Dodger Field in Los Angeles. 'Why are we looking forward to 1975?' he asked.
And then he answered his question by stating, 'It is firmly maintained that by
the autumn of the year 1975, the battle of Armageddon will have been fought and

a while ago i had a discussion with a jw who swung the conversation around to "the blood issue"... .
i asked him that as he "abstained from blood", does he therefore only eat "kosher meat".. his response was "what's does kosher mean" !.
i explained, and he then told me that all meat nowadays was "kosher", and that the red juice that runs from a steak is infact "meat juice" and not blood, so it was okay to eat.. hmmmmmn.... .
