  this is my first time on a message board relating to anything jw.

  i haven't posted anything in the past because i still held to the fear that it would be betraying what i was taught, betraying my family, betraying god.

  i would like to preface my discussion of the recently filed berry lawsuit with several remarks.

  first, i am not an attorney, and my only connection with the legal profession is that which occasionally arises out of my personal or business affairs.

  second, i have no access to court records, opinions, etc., other than what is available via internet search engines.

  hello friends,.

  in a thread over at witnesses.net entitled "society bracing for law suits" fellow jw's are taking swipes at ray franz.

  not too long ago, while i was still under the wt spell i also would have similarily spoken abusively of ray.

  Well, I met Ray when I was a young lad living in Maywood, CA. We had a sister of a GB member serving in our congregation. I got to hear all the great stuff Ray was writing and the projects that he was working on. Remember, most of the Aid book and the Organized book was written/overseen by Ray. Also, the best book ever by the WT, Commentary on the Letter of James (the only book that has stayed the test of time) was written with his input.

  I could not understand why a great brother like Ray was then demonized. Another case of bearing false witness of a brother.

  hello, this is my first post to this board.

  i'm a married 24 year old male, i've been married for 2 1/2 years.

  my wife and i are in the process of trying to get out of the wts, presently we live on the east coast of the us, but are planning to move to the west coast in 6 months.

  Judicial Elder wisdom LOL

  i got to go into the star chamber a few years ago, i remember when the elders handling the my case told me and they all seemed to be in agreement with stupid remark: " now bro., i want you to go out and do everything you always wanted to do, and get it out of your system before you come back to us wanting reinstatement!

  i was disgusted, i said: wait just a dam min your all supposed to encourage me not to sin and guide me inn ways of righteousness, instead your telling me to go out and sin?

  i then said: "something's not right here, if there is a god someone will pay one day for mistreating one of his sheep.. question friends has anyone ever had the borg mp's ever say that to you?

  Well, the closest situation I encountered while serving as an elder was a brother that was seen going into a neighborhood bar regularly. As we all know, the WT does not trust its membership to go to places like a bar. I was assigned with another elder to talk to the brother.

  The brother defended his “right” to get a drink now and then. The elder and I was very sympathetic to his points. The other elder asked if the brother could drink in another bar outside our area to avoid stumbling and stressing out the sheep. Case closed.

  oh ... sitting there ... waiting for the interminable end of the dreary and elongated rambling of someone with no public speaking skills at all ... please end ... anything to break this monotony is welcome ... even singing about 'christian youths' would be more welcome ... music pllllllease ... ahah 'now brothers, we will move into the service meeting with song number 47' ... and out blares ... guns'n'roses 'black leather' .... what cd would you like to sneak in there huh ?

  Greetings William:

  Wow, sure enjoyed your post. I to was an Elder and disassociated myself when I read Raymond Franz two books and also witnessing so much in my area as an Elder. The part about the convention expenses the WT extracts sure hits home. As an elder, I got slapped down for questioning the exact arrangement you cited.

  Have you read Ray Franz' two books? I just read some heartfelt excerpts to my wife and she came around in a month or so.

  Met my first Elder after diassociation

  well i met my first witness (and it would have to be an elder who i always got on well with) last night after my disassociation 3 weeks ago and i was not prepared for how hard it felt.

  i had the most human reaction of recognising someone i knew and had to stop myself saying hi.

  he just rushed past me.

  I have been dissociated for a year now. It was real hard at first seeing fellow elders that I served with just ignore me. Brother Raymond Franz called this type of people “institutional friends.” Ray was right. His second book, In Search of Christian Freedom, encouraged me to carry on, the last chapter was great....

  i have just listened to a radio programme on the bbc about parasites, which it made my flesh crawl.. imagine a parasite that invades an ant, but which does more than feed from its bodily nutrients, it interferes the ants nervous system.

  it does this to cripple the ant.

  it must infect a bigger animal, a grazing herbivore, and for this, it must disable its host above ground during the warmth of the day.
