All sane persons act to save their life, that’s called “Moral Worth.” Job proved that argument untrue many years ago.......

An apostate looks at the 10 Commandments
by Mindchild inwell gang, for my 100th post i thought i would see if i could either amuse or get some of the more traditional thinkers hair to stand up.
i thought a good place to go would be an apostates look at the 10 commandments.. commandment 1: you shall have no other gods but me.
well the first thing that comes to my mind is why cant i have no gods?

Well, thank God Jesus came and put an end to the “law.” The law is death, because no one can follow it fully

Vitameatavegamin:
With respect, you seem to be comparing apples with oranges: You are talking about works of law (?) Or serving for selfish reasons(?), On the other hand, Mama is talking about working out one’s salvation. Paul has written extensively on the subject of working out salvation.
Works of law, like weekly prescribed acts to obtain God’s favor, is fruitless as the Pharisees showed and which Jesus condemned .

I have to agree with Mama: the Apostle Paul states that we all stand before our master as individuals, not as a group or membership into something.

Don't cooperate with their SHUNNING you!
by bluesapphire inmy dub sister planned this little event to see the lion king.
she invited my two other sisters and their families and purposely left me out.
when my family asked about me, she just shrugged her shoulders -- the little hypocrite couldn't "stumble" them by telling them she was shunning her own sister.

Reading your post really makes me upset at all the legalism and hurt the WT has caused. I feel so ashamed of my past as a JW Elder and the committees I served on.................

If Im NOT JW, what can I be?
by Sirona ini have a jw friend who said to me "i'd be interested to know if there are any other religions that teach what jws teach".
after the post on "food for thought" which gave details of modern day bible students, i thought i'd ask the question:.
what religions are there that either have similar roots to the jw religion, or that have similar teachings?

Raymond Franz second book, "In search of Christion Freedom," has some good points for Christians to consider:
Page 672, "The Body of Christ, a Religious Organization or a Family-like Community?"
Page 681: "Is an Authority Structure Needed?"
Please read this detailed information. Lots of food for thought. I have to agree with Franz, “it is the Christian Faith that is the truth, not any one religion.

active and happy jw
by scumgrief ini am an active jw and was raised as one.
i have been watching the site for a while and thought it could benefit from the opinions of someone who is happily a member of the jw's.
i will not get into any argumets that lead to nothing except name calling, and will not talk with anyone who is just plain mean (plenty of them in here).

I would be the one you would confess your sins to. Also, I would be the keeper of the Franz Books....
