I have told my story many times, and it seems my story is the same as every other battered wife. What really gets me is that the elders never punished my abusive jw husband, however, they were very quick to df me when I said I couldn't take it anymore. Through most of it, I was a regular pioneer, and he couldn't hold onto the simplest of priveledges. It seemed to me that he couldn't make any headway in the organization, because he would buy pornography and perform oral sex on himself and then run to the elders to confess. But beating and threatening his wife didn't seem to be a real problem for them. I was simply told to be a better wife and wait on Jehovah. Had I stayed, we would've marked our 26th anniversary this year. I can't imagine suffering that long. Doesn't it strike you as odd that female pioneers aren't held in as high esteem as "going nowhere" males? It even seems to defy the common sense of the WTB&TS.

Stories Of Wife Abuse In The Organization!
by new boy inthere are so many.... i remember my exfather inlaw...ben regan, he was made an elder in newport r.i and that's enough to make you doubt the whole holy spirit thing right there.. i was sitting in his living room one sunday and the phone rings...some poor black sister just got the crap beat out of her and she was crying to him on the phone, she was looking for help.. ben said.
"well you must have done something really bad to make him so mad at you...i know but...what you need to do is just have another beer and forget the whole thing"....good by.. thank god must women are not putting up with this anymore, from their husbands or religions that really don't care about them.

Ok, so my mom came over today... Part 2
by cognac ineverything was going fine.
i was surprised when she didn't say anything about my confession to my dad yesturday that i didn't believe 5 or 6 billion people are going to die at the big a.. so, anyways, i took that to be her accepting of how i felt.
i told her that it bothers me how they put some awful pictures in kids books like my book of bible stories.

I would say run with the accusations of craziness. It's better than what the jws do to abused women and children when they want to get out. Every jw I know who got out to escape physical and/or sexual abuse was accused of adultery or some other immorality.

Things to wear at mtg that will raise eyebrows but won't get you into 2...
by cognac inmuch trouble... or, things to do at the mtg that will raise eyebrows but won't get you into to much trouble.. i've been thinking about this since i still go.
i'm surprised at how much a person can get away with if they are in a hall that they have no family in that particular kingdom hall.... at the memorial i put on so much dark eye make-up i was shocked my husband didn't say anything walking out the door.
instead, i got compliments, lol, not exactly what i planned on.... one of my friends who faded went to the memorial and she had a pretty low cut shirt on.

Why don't you go to the next meeting dressed as a man?

Dealing with an elder
by kzjw inthiis one's long, but here's a letter i sent in open dialog with the elder of my wife's congregation...let's hear the input... i appreciate your candor, and admittedly i can see an effort to not be overbearing in your response to my questions.
my main concern is trusting the organization.
when i read john 14(the whole chapter because i"m never satified with just a verse), i don't see anything that provides for some "organization" to lead us to the salvation that we all seek in our christian walk.

I hope you point out a few things to this elder:
1. How is it that being in the organization is working for him when there are thousands coming forward and claiming that they were sexually abused as children within the organization?
2. How will he ever see the real truth if he thinks anyone saying anything against the WTB&TS are apostates and not to be trusted?
3. The society has bragged for years about their successes in court. If Ray Franz was a liar, why didn't they sue him in court and win? If the sex abuse survivors are liars, why did the
society lose in court? If the press that exposed the society's membership with the U.N. were lying, why weren't they sued?
4. If he's so gung ho on waiting to see if the organization will be taken down by Jehovah for being evildoers, doesn't he want to be on the correct, just side?

By what age can a child be indoctrinated?
by jwfacts inmy step daughter went to the memorial, which is her first meeting in many months.
a 7 year old girl came up to her and asked if she is baptised and when will she get baptised.. my sister has a 4 year old daughter.
when she was introduced to another 4 year old one question she asked was "does he love jehovah.".

I don't have children of my own, but I helped to raise two step-children and now have a close relationship with their children. There is no way I would ever let a child, any child under my care to be around jw's without my supervision. At best, the kids will have the life scared out of them about the always impending doom of Armageddon. At worst, they could be molested by one of the organization's protected pedophiles.

"Bad" songs at JW weddings
by B_Deserter inwhen i was in my teens, jw weddings were quite the social affair.
of course, the music was strictly regulated by the elders.
somehow though, in each wedding, someone managed to get the song "you shook me all night long" by ac/dc into the dj's rotation, and all of the "bad" witnesses would have a blast dancing to it.

JW replies to e-mail...continuation of yesterday
by dawg inok, so jw replies to my e-mail yesterday; the one in which i posted a topic about.. he said this.
georgiahuff i'm glad you feel that way and like i said your opinions don't matter to me!!!
first of all you are a very closed minded person and you probably never even been to the kingdom hall yourself or read the bible.

The 23,000 name database at the WTB&TS is of molesters, not the molested. There is a huge difference between 23,000 molested children and 23,000 molesters, since molesters tend to victimize more than one child. The number of molested probably numbers in the hundreds of thousands if not millions.

But Jehovah's Witnesses are classic fundamentalists in that they steadfastly stand by their beliefs, yet at the same time they don't hurt people by forcing their beliefs on them.
Well, except for the women and children who are battered and raped within the organization.

When I got married as a jw, the elders were the band. Believe it or not, they played "Wipe Out". But they stopped playing and sent someone to stop one of my worldly cousins from swiveling their hips. They also loved to play "Help Me Make it Through the Night" which was about fornication--just shows the hypocrisy. The elders had no problem with songs from their generation that talked about fornication or encouraged sexy dancing, but God help the rock and roller.

i had an injury to my eye, fortunately minor, and my doctor wanted to examine it.
two witnesses were in the office waiting room and spotted me right away.
