I wish she would've pointed out the fact that her family is under the threat of d'fing themselves if they do associate with her. I also wonder why she just didn't d'a instead of claiming to have an affair.

Thank you all. Was a dub for 30 years. Left as an elder. Been out for almost 30 years now. Isn't it amazing that you've been out for 30 years and still posting on exjw boards? I've been out for 20 and found this site to be quite healing and humourous at times. As for the stuck-up ones on this board, I haven't run across them, but then again, I'm pretty dense sometimes, or maybe I'm just thick skinned. Welcome!

I still have that gut wrenching knot come up some especially when we have huge events in the world(9/11 etc). So I have to keep telling myself that IF the end comes there's nothing I can do about it....I can't control it.....I can only hope for the best.....

I feel disheartened, confused, betrayed, depressed and angry.

i've been a baptized witness for 21 years.
i was raised roman catholic, went to a parochial school for 8 years, public high school, the usaf for 4 years during vietnam, got my first good job after the military in 1974 at age 25, got married in 1976, went to pentecostal, baptist churches for awhile, and was presbyterian for 8 years during my first marriage that ended after 10 years.

Don't be in too much of a hurry to find another religion or even hold to what the WTB&TS says. Continue researching for yourself. JWD will give you lots of ideas. Everyone on this board could tell you what they believe or don't believe, but you have to figure out for yourself what makes sense to you. Let us know what you've found. Welcome to JWD. Many people who have been on JWD a lot longer or have posted a lot more than you weren't included on that list either, so I wouldn't feel too badly about it. But, I'm glad you made this post, because I either didn't know or wasn't able to recall that you are writing a book. Is it about the jw cult? If not, what is the topic/genre? Is your divorce over you leaving the cult? Are you a professional writer, or do you do something else for a living? What made you learn the truth about the "truth"?

Consequences of being a JW
by Regretful_J ini've been thinking about what its like to be born and raised as a jw and the mistakes that parents make as an almost direct result of this cult.
for one thing, the children are not allowed to think freely, and if they say or do one little thing their parents disapprove of, they are chastised and basically bullied into abandoning that thought or action.
another thing is that no matter what you do, and no matter how good your reputation is among friends, teachers, administrators, etc if you don't want to go to meetings, and don't believe in this faith, they do what they can to make you feel lower then dirt for this and will often resort to verbal abuse, and sometimes violence to force you to believe in them and conform.

Emotionally drained
by heybaby inwe got into another "discussion" about the validity of the wts and whether or not they teach the truth....i expected that, so it wasn't a big deal.
what i didn't expect is the interesting turn that the conversation took.
we actually discussed getting a divorce.
