RIP Natalie Hughes (Carter)
by God_Delusion ini recently learned that my dear friend, natalie, took her own life.
i am distraught and deeply saddened.. for those that knew natalie, they knew a girl that was both kind and loving, a girl that was torn between the treacherous teachings of this cult and what her mind told her was reality.. natalie my sweet friend, you will be missed.. http://changeisbeautiful.co.uk/default.aspx.

New here - hello!
by sickandtired ini can't believe i'm actually posting here.
i've been lurking for a while and i've been having doubts about this being the "truth" for years and sometimes feel really stuck and hopeless about my situation.
i'm married to an elder (who is 110% jw) and i was for the most part raised in the "truth".

Welcome to JWN! Many religions have unity, racial and otherwise, and society as a whole has made great strides in overcoming prejudice in the last few decades. I hate to be a naysayer, but the Watchtower hasn't always treated the black race equally. It was once believed that black people would become white in paradise. And while I really hate to pee on your parade, the Watchtower, much like the Catholic Church, has been embroiled in child molestation scandals and cover-ups for close to 50 years.
Gice yourself some time to investigate and digest information that is important to you. Then come back here and ask for reference materials, which (usually come from the Watchtower itself).

I'm starting to *like* pantyhose again :o
by rebel8 ini haven't worn pantyhose for ~20 years, except for the odd special occasion in winter.
field service really ruined me for pantyhose.
sitting on those hot sweaty vinyl seats, getting up every so often to go out in the steaming heat....and freezing my jewels off in the winter...omg...i hated hose!!

Sherah, you're probably way too cool for prairie skirts, and you're a black girl, aren't you? Black girls don't have to worry about their ghostly white legs sticking out of a skirt. GAWD, that looks awful! Anyway, I never wore skirts of any kind, because even when I was trim, my wide hips made me look like a round table, LOL. I always wear long dresses with an empire waist. Empty is young and trim, and she wears more like hippie clothes. Now, she's a real cutie!

The WTS, homosexuality, and the tax code
by sir82 inhow about that for a discombobulated thread topic?.
i think we are in the midst of a new civil rights revolution - this time the oppressed who are overcoming prejudice are homosexuals.
now new york has legalized gay marriage.

Why would some cover-ups make JW's lose their status as "a religion" in America? Come on thats just silly. Then they'd have to declare basically every religion a non religion for the same reason.
The Watchtower didn't commit some cover-ups of child molestation. The recent court cases and others detailed at watchtowerdocuments.com proves a persistent pattern of cover-ups back to at least 1964. I don't know if the same can be said about every religion. Looking at it from the public's point of view, most everyone finds child molestation repugnant, which is definitely not the case with homosexuality.

Watchtower’s Enlightenment — And Then Comes Blood
by Marvin Shilmer inwatchtowers enlightenment and then comes blood .
recently my blog presentations have peered into tall tales of demonism published by watchtower.
what is my point?

Marvin, I just want to thank you for all you do. I usually don't comment on your threads, because, to be quite honest, I can't bring myself to read much of anything written by the Watchtower. It actually makes me physically ill. But there are many who can still stomach the stuff, and you do a fine job of bringing Watchtower nonsense to the forefront.

What an asshole! That's very easy for him to say, because he's not sweating it out in the desert in a big black robe...jerk. I don't know about anyone else, but when I was a jw, I hated freezing my ass off in the winter time wearing dresses. As a matter of fact, I got quite a few discouraging looks over the leg warmers I wore during cold weather and the fact that I refused to wear pantyhose in the warm weather.
