The GB Knew What They Were Doing
by compound complex ini believe that the governing body knew very well what would be the consequences of publishing the above article on apostates.
they carefully word every article, not only for the faithful, but for the unfaithful, and for those who have never believed our faith.
the above article and the comments here show me their great wisdom, because they have achieved exactly what they wanted.

The gb intentionally causes "persecution" all of the time. But I don't really think that the people who took the "mentally diseased" article to the press and police had the rank and file jw in mind. I'm pretty sure that the goal was to expose the Watchtower for the mind controlling cult that it is to thinking, rational people in the world, to both those in power and those who are pestered at their doorsteps.

Why not just meet for breakfast and/or lunch and spend the day? If you spend the night, it will be very easy for you to feel trapped.

Arguing with a Russellite
by Lunatic Faith ini posted a blog yesterday regarding some of the occult images used by the watchtower society.
i got an interesting response today from an apparent russellite.
i have never run into these people so i was surprised at his vehement defense of russell.

There has been much written about Russel's "miracle wheat" scam and some other corporate entity, the name of which I can't recall. The testimony in his divorce proceedings painted him, in my mind, as an odd man who never consumated his marriage and prefered the company of women much younger than his wife.

We had an electrical fire at our house in January 2007 and had to stay at a hotel until repairs were finished. I couldn't do my work at home job without long distance phone service, so I spent my days surfing the net. Although I'd been out of the cult for 20 years, my anti-Watchtower exposure was limited to silentlambs.org. Curious as to what other information was out there, I looked up Jehovah's Witnesses and found this site. After the initial cult indoctrinated fear of apostates disapated, I spent hours of laughing and crying over the posts. I really started doing lots of reading some months later when my dear brother called to tell me that he was no longer a jw.

It's official, the internet IS the Watchtower's nemesis!
by cedars ini have been inspired recently by some of the comments on this forum regarding the society having reached a "tipping point".
it's been observed that, despite the overwhelming weight of evidence that the society is nothing more than a damaging cult, the number of witnesses continues to increase, albeit gradually.
the latest figures i have available are those in the 2011 yearbook, showing a global 2.5% increase between 2009 and 2010.. as we all know, the internet is steadily rising in accessibility (or "penetration") around the world, and it provides a wonderful resource for those who are curious about joining the faith, helping such ones to quickly identify precisely how warped the teachings of the watch tower society really are.

I should note that the above figures are based on AVERAGES. As you might expect, there were always countries that bucked the trend. For example, only 14.5% of Cuba's population have access to the internet, but they still only managed a 1% increase in publishers. At the other end of the scale, 58.8% of Malaysia's population have access to the internet, but the Society still managed an 8% increase in that country. However, such exceptions are rare, and the overall trend (as shown above) is that "ignorance is bliss" - at least as far as the preaching work is concerned.
Something else to take into consideration regarding countries that buck the system is the percentage of elderly population. Even if there is reasonable internet access in a certain country that also has significant growth for the Watchtower, how much of that particular population is willing or able to use a computer? My non-jw dad is 73 years old and lives in the US. He has a computer and internet service but absolutely refuses to use it. At least in my neck of the woods, I've found that many people who are in their 70's or older are petrified of even trying to use the internet.
On the other hand, in countries where internet availability as well as Watchtower growth is low, is there a significant portion of the populaion that is young? Although younger people may not have immediate internet access, they may be more willing and able to use a computer at a library, school, work, or friend's home than their senior counterparts.
Just a thought, but it does seem that you're on to something.

Information for the privilage..and your eyes ever glaze over to defend yourself from satan??
by trailerfitter inso, my small amount of knowledge about the watchtower means nothing.
internet stories are all untrue??.
if the knowledge of the inner working of the wt organisation is actually secret and only privvy to the jw members how comes i made her go silent when saying that the wt were inspected by jc and found to be worthy of providing food at the correct time?.

The glazing over of your wife's eyes hve nothing to do with her gender, my friend. What you're witnessing is cult indoctrination and brainwashing.

Poor kid. Is there any way you could direct him here? It seems to me he needs some decent direction. He never got it from his parents, and I have my doubts about the pregnant girlfriend, who first of al,l had a sexual relationship with a guy her kid's age and secondly, has an interest in the "truth".

My Great-Grandmother Died This Morning
by TheClarinetist inshe's been really bad for quite a while, and passed away in her sleep.
she lived to be a ripe old age, and even got to meet some of her great-great grandchildren (not mine... i don't have any kids), which is not something that can be said for a lot of people.
she loved music, and took organ lessons for many of the last years of her life, something that we really connected on, despite the fact that she was a, for lack of a better word, crazy jw that pioneered for years after she wasn't able to attend meetings in person.. from what i understand, the majority of people people never meet their great-grandparents, and for that i should consider myself lucky, but still i'll miss her.

How many of you haven't fared too well since your exit?
by i_drank_the_wine ini know that i've had a hard time piecing things back together after losing my wife and family a couple years ago and haven't really gotten the ball rolling to say the least.
just curious to hear if anyone else is in the same boat, or was in the same boat and how long it took them to get a "new life" figured out and going..

My first few years out were pretty rough. But I made sure to learn a lesson from every mistake I made and just kept going. Eventually I learned to value myself, and things seemed to fall into place. Nobody's life is perfect or happy all the time, but the longer you're out, the better it will get.
