jamie: lily rabe "sister mary somethin?" (not jessica lang but the other nun) drug her down there. when anne frank shot the dr., she did it to cover for him.
If that's the case, why didn't she just put her in the woods with the other monsters the doctor created?

How old are you now? Keep in mind that most people don't have a firm grasp on who they are until their 30's. And even then, a person changes and grows for as long as they are alive.

Grumblecakes, what do you want to discuss? I'm curious as to how Chloe Sevigny's character wound up at the bottom of a schoolyard stairwell.

Venting some rage and pain.
by jemba inmy father the coboe and much loved member of the cult has ignored me and my children 17yrs and 8yrs old for much of my life and all of my kids lives.
i hate that religion for taking my father away and i hate him for being sucked in and putting all his love, time and kindness into the org and the stupid dubs and leaving himself too tired and uninterested in us.
my kids dont have grandparents, my mum is ok, she rings me once a month but kinda ignores my kids, just gives em $50 each a yr as a substitute for love and attention.. .

Jemba, I hope you take these observations in the spirit in which they are given. First, why do you want a relationship with your parents? They are the ones who threw you to the wolves to be beaten and raped and surrounded by drug addicts and prostitutes! Even more astonishing, you want your kids to have a relationship with their grandparents. I'd venture to say that your parents aren't any better than your pedophile in-laws.
Instead of thinking as your father's child, think as a mother to your children. What would you do to keep your children from drug addicts and prostitutes? I suspect you would move heaven and earth to do so. Your parents certainly didn't do that for you. It's quite possible that you blame yourself for what happened to you as a young adult. Once you put the blame where it belongs, you'll probably want you and your kids to be as far away from your parents as possible, which is where you should be.
There are elderly people out there who feel the same void that you do. Find one or two, and take care of each other.

there is a saying that goes .no man can for any considerable time wear one face to himself and another to the multitude, without getting bewildered as to which one is the true one...so do you find this to be true, when you have to wear a different face when you are among jws ..do you get tired of it all?.

I know I do, and I hope one day there will be support groups in all parts of the world,so that we don't have to live double lives,( this is no way to live),...
There are ex-jw meet up groups. Check meetup.com in your area. If there isn't one in your area and you're not afraid to tell me your location, pm me, and I'l try to find some ex-jws in your area.

WOW, your parents had no contact with you unless they needed money! And then the siblings who shun you had your mom's funeral director call you to pay the bill! That really takes the cake! I can't help but wonder about your nieces and nephews. With two-thirds of young people leaving the cult, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if a few of them don't contact their "apostate" uncle.
I'm so glad you've been a success in life! Your family's actions have provided a powerful anti-witnes to your wife and her family.
I have absolutely no interest in debating Watchtower doctrine, right or wrong. As for politics, debating never changes people's minds. It brings out the worst in people whether it is at a cocktail party, backyard BBQ or an internet message board. To those things, I really have nothing to add.
I couldn't agree with you more. But you will have some valuable advice for young people who are now standing where you have stood. I hope you have the time and inclination to share your experience with them.
In the meantime, good luck to you. You sound like a real stand up guy with a good head on your shoulders!

Don't feel guilty. You did the best with what you knew at the time. My husband was drafted at the age of 19 in 1969. Despite being a star athlete in baseball, football, and wrestling in high school, he failed the physical. He worked in a factory between graduation and the draft and developed a double hernia. The military didn't want him even after he had it repaired. He feels guilty to this day.

As a stepmom to two and grandma to four, I think your birthday plans for your son are fine. As for Christmas, it's not carved in stone that you celebrate it on December 25th. Greek Orthodox observe the holiday the first week of January. If your jw relatives will be gone by then, celebrate accordingly. If you can find a sitter, go to your company's evening party. Most if not all of your co-workers will be happy to hear that you're widening your social life to include them, at least at work functions. I've found most "worldly" people to be accommodating to newcomers in society.
