The Watch Tower requires a couple to have a chaperone when dating. Since you're not baptized, she shouldn't be dating you at all, hence the suggested group outing. Please do your research before continuing your study. You're getting involved with a high control group.

Please help.... depressed jw teen
by huniepie ini think i’m going insane.... i’m 17 years old and being raised in a jw household.
i really want friends and a boyfriend but i can’t have that because my parents are jw and i’m also homeschooled.
they are those jw parents that refuse to let me go to public school because of bad influences.

If you live in the US, you may want to check out AmeriCorps, but you'll have to be 18. Even if you're a year away from legal age, making plans to leave will make the time go quicker. Once you're out, think about making friends before finding a boyfriend. In the meantime, your parents may allow you to go to a trade school or community college to gain job skills. Have you talked to them about it?
Time seems to stand still when you're young, because you have so much of it. But no matter how depressing your life seems, it won't last forever.
Here's the link to AmeriCorps: https://www.nationalservice.gov/impact-our-nation/state-profiles

Well, it sounds like things haven't changed much in Watch Tower world. I made a similar escape from an abusive jw husband about 30 years ago. Keep reading and thinking, and your cult induced phobias will eventually cease.

After watching A&E Leah Remini on Jehovah Witnesses I am going to stop hiding behind my Avatar
by Still Totally ADD injust got done watching this program and what impress me the most was the bravery of those x-witnesses to sit there on national tv and tell everyone how the wt.
cult affected them.
no hidden faces, no avatar names and no disguise.

Family is now reaping what they sowed and they don't like it.
by Gemmel ini resigned from the jw's in my 20's over 30 years ago, i was immediately shunned by my entire family and it's remained that way with a few exceptions ever since.
one of those exceptions was being contacted by a cousin a few years back and during that conversation i discovered that my mother had been and still was the prime mover in my complete and continuing shunning.
i then used what contacts i had left to confirm it.

Guilt trip
by Jrjw indid anyone have other jws try to guilt trip them when they were leaving or if you were making a decision which jws felt was wrong but wasn't unscriptural?
i'm getting people guilt tripping me to eventually get back with my emotionally, spiritually and mentally abusive husband who i'm separated from.
i feel sick at the thought of getting back together and putting myself through that nightmare again but i'm being told its what jehovah wants coz he doesn't want families to be apart.

Yes, I was guilt tripped when I left my abusive jw husband. Years later I completed a questionnaire composed by a FBI agent that studied domestic violence murders. On a scale of 0 to 9 of chances of being killed had I stayed in the marriage, I scored a 9.
The example you're setting for your kids is that no one deserves to be abused. It would be very difficult to set any example for them if you're dead. Stand your ground. No rational person would expect you to stay in a situation where you're being mistreated. As a matter of fact, sane family and friends should be rallying around you. Contact the domestic violence hotline in your area to see if there are support groups that may help you to build a network outside of the cult.

so how long has it been since you have seen your jw family or friends?

29 years since I've spoken to my mom in person....a handful of telephone calls regarding medical issues. It has never bothered me much, because I left the jws to save my life.
