Maybe once he makes ms, he'll realize that it's not all it's cracked up to be, and then fade.

A lot of talk about Politics lately
by Wordly Andre ini was just wondering how many here actually vote?
how many plan to vote for the first time?
-

I voted for the first 8 years after being df'd. I waited so long, because I wasn't confident that I knew the issues. Once I started college (at the age of 31) I was ready. I've voted in every election since.

How sweet is it to NOT be a JW?
by new light indo you ever revisit the old jw ways of thinking, and then compare it to the complete freedom that you have now?
do you remember judging and fearing the everyday activities of the people around you?
remember that dread of restating "your" position on holidays every few weeks, knowing you would just end up further alienated from coworkers?

Very sweet: celebrating birthdays and holidays, having the freedom to read and think anything you want, the ability to form caring relationships with anyone you want, I could go on for days.

"attack of the killer witnesses"--I check this website several times a day and seemed to have missed it. What's going on?

Did You Consider Yourself a "Good Witness"?
by minimus inwere you considered by others as "the cream of the crop"?
.
did you view yourself as a pillar in the congregation or were you "spiritually weak"?.
-

I perservered through regular pioneering and an abusive marriage, so I must've been a good witness. But the elders kept telling me to be a better wife, so I guess in their eyes I was the "cream of the crap" not cream of the crop.

Help Me Please !!!!!!!!
by Maddie ini need some support and advice with my situation and hope you don't mind me going on a bit because i feel wretched!
i hurt so much with my jw family relationship and find it so frustrating that whatever i do or say doesn't make any difference.. my son and wife had a little girl 9 months ago, my first and only grand child and i love her so much.
when she was born my hubby and i helped them a lot wiith buying all the expensive things she needed, as my son hadn't a well paying job as being a die hard jw he believes in the "education and career isn't what you should be doing propaganda" put out buy the wt.

Stop paying for things, and you won't have to do the pursuing, rest assured.

The angst of dealing with family when they are still in and you are not...
by Layla33 ini don't think you ever truly make peace with it, somehow you learn to maneveur and swim in it like most things.
i have been out for so long, it's almost like a shadowy memory when i was in, but for my family it is all they have ever known and dared to know.. i feel for the people whose parents have cut them out completely, but mine never truly did that.
i guess we just loved each other a little too much to even think about losing the other completely.

I don't know what's worse; having contact with family who are still in or being shunned completely. I've been shunned completely.

Still think the Society is not running out of cash? ...
by sir82 in...then check this out!.
(of course the society has $billions in real estate, but many have speculated that they are low on cash for day-day operations).. unfortunately i don't have a working scanner, but here is a summary of & a few quotations from a boe letter dated march 1, 2008:.
"for an number of years, an arrangement has been available to congregations to place funds on deposit with the branch office.

Since the rank and file don't have enough common sense to run their own lives, why shouldn't they also lean on the society to invest their collective funds? Christ, what's next? Maybe it will become a disfellowshipping offense if congregations don't sent their money to the gb!

ELO's song "Confusion" could be the theme song for JW's. How many changes have there been? I'll start with one. Did you know that prior to 1974 that if a spouse had sex with the same sex or an animal, it was not considered adultery? Any other odd changes, other than new light, 1935 didn't close the door on the annointed, etc?
