JW splinter groups..

i was just wondering.

has the idea ever been brought up of a group breaking away from wts & forming some sort of reformed jw church that isn't so controlling.

like lurther & the catholic church.

Dealing with my girlfriend's family.

i've been with my girlfriend for about 4 months and she has a big family who are always around.

they are nice people, and i get along with them fine.

they now want to meet my family and have even given an ultimatum that if they don't meet a family member within a month, they'll 'make' her break up with me.

My first considerations would be how old is your girlfriend, and is she still living at home? If she's a teenager and/or still living at home, her family has every right to know your background. If you really care for this girl and would like to see where your relationship is going, you should tell her family the truth, and then introduce them to your brother. The older I become, the more I realize how important family is. By not cooperating with them, you may be blowing a great opportunity to be adopted into a big, loving family. Since you've been silent on the matter so far, perhaps they're afraid of what you have to reveal. Calm their nerves by telling the truth. It will do all of you a lot of good.

it was left up to make up for lost time, plus i thought i might get an elder's visit and wanted them to see it long after the season if they showed up.

only four months and i can put it back up!

Well, you are my kind of person! My dear husband indulges me in almost every aspect, but he really gets upset that I cry every New Year's Day while taking down the Christmas decorations.

i have been going to a christian church called the vineyard.

they have a live band and lots of singing goes on there.

i just got a pair of mags.

no questions or study articles on the wt wow!

i phoned a witness friend (yes i still have a few) there is only one awake every month now and one wt for the public and the other has the study articles and is made available in house only.

this is actually a serious question.. when i was a jw, i was taught all kinds of things about how horrible the rcc is.

i believed it.

many years after leaving the wts, i began looking into the rcc for myself and discovered that everything i had been told about the rcc by the wts was a lie.

I don't hate the Catholic Church, but I have some problems with it. Things may have changed, but years ago when my Catholic aunt divorced her Catholic husband for f*****g anything in a skirt, she remarried another Catholic. When they had their first child together, the priest refused to baptize her, saying she was a bastard in the eyes of God. Well, when the mother in law found out, she raised holy hell and threatened to discontinue her generous contributions to the church. That poor baby was practically drowned in holy water the very next day. Their second child dropped out of cathicism (sp?) class after the nun said that divorced people were going to hell. That kind of stuff leaves a bad taste in my mouth, but the Catholic Church probably isn't any worse than any other religion.

I kept the multiplication tables and I started from scratch with most everything else.

i say this because i have been helped so much by the many posts that represent the way i feel about the wtbts.

it is good to know that there are so many people that feel this way.

i am currently inactive and dont comment but do attend meetings for the sake of the family.. my wife is still in and i have a daughter and one on the way.

Welcome! And at the risk of sounding like a broken record, please read Steven Hassan's book, Combatting Cult Mind Control before you speak to anyone about the TRUTH about the "truth". It's not written by an apostate or about jws in particular, so you shouldn't have to worry about getting caught with it.

no, shes not leaving the borg anytime soon, but she attended my grandmothers 83rd surprise b-day party yesterday.

this was probably the last time we will come together as a family.

there were relatives she neither one of us has seen for decades.

OMG, that is a BIG deal. I was overjoyed when I learned that a longtime jw relative donated an item for the Chinese auction at our latest family reunion. None of the jws in the family showed up, but at least one wanted to contribute to the effort.
