I have a cognitive disorder that causes me to have very little spacial or depth perception. It's a bitch when doing ordinary things like driving, hanging wallpaper and closing flap lids on boxes.

Is It Me Or Are The Males of Today More Feminine and/or Nerdy Than Ever B4?
by minimus inwhen i turn on the tv, i see so many fem men that i'm realizing that a 'manly" man seems to be a relic of the past.. metrosexuals rule the world now.supersensitive males who are in touch with their feminine side are the norm.. the john waynes & burt reynolds have been replaced with ryan seacrest lookalikes.. ladies, do you find these metrosexuals all that attractive?

Yes, it does seem to me that men are more feminine today, at least with the younger set. Most don't have that manly man attitude when it comes to everything from working a second job if necessary to feeling a sense of obligation to take out the trash. Maybe I'm just spoiled, but my husband works a lot of overtime and still makes all of the repairs around the house and on our cars as well as yard work. He also does special projects like remodeling, plumbing, electrical wiring, installing new flooring, etc. We don't ever pay someone to work on our house, cars or yard. I've offered to help out with simple things like putting gas in the van or taking out the trash, and he won't hear of it. He said he would be embarrassed to have people see his wife do those sorts of things.
However I've seen many men in the younger generation who have no sense of obligation to learn how to fix and maintain a car and home, nor do they have qualms about their wives working second jobs, (even though they do most, if not all of the housework, as well), I know many wives who shovel snow, mow grass and have to take their cars to the garage for maintenance and service and call repairmen and remodelers for their homes.
I've always said that my husband is the last of the hard asses and part of a dying breed. At previous jobs, he has had 15 to 25 guys under his supervision, most of which were half his age, and he ran circles around them. It seems to me that the younger generation of men have a fear of getting their hands dirty. This isn't a criticism, just something I've noticed about guys in their 20's and 30's.

Another new guy from TX
by Texman55 inhowdy all, i just happened to be in your neighborhood and thought i'd ring your doorbell to tell you the good news about jehovah's kingdom, and if you don't believe every damn word of it you're going to die a horrible death real soon m*th*rf*ck*r thought i'd say howdy.. like it says on my profile, i wasted my vulnerable teen years in the watchtower bible and crap society, and it nearly killed me.
funny thing is, i wasnt coerced into it by my family, they were all worldly (well except for a very eccentric old great uncle that nobody liked or visited) and thought i was out of my fucking mind to join up with that jw shit.. which i was.
understandably, because my parents drank too much, there were truly horrible fights every night at home, a very bitter divorce when i was 10, and only child me was trapped in the middle of all that with no one to turn to.

Welcome to JWD. Your story is very interesting. May I ask you a question? I've heard from many gay people that coming out to their parents was very difficult. Was it so for you? I'm wondering if they weren't so relieved that you got out of the cult that the gay issue was really no big deal to them.

Have any of you heard about "The Cleavage Talk?" C'mon!!
by Lady Zombie insupposedly about the same time as the bethel visitor's dress code brochure, talks were being given in kh concerning women showing cleavage.. i don't know.
i haven't heard any of these talks myself, but my folks tell me they have.
they also told me about the talks given in other congregations (reported to them by their friends).. i guess some cos, pos, etc.

When I was younger and still had a nice figure, I never wore form fitting clothes in and out of jw land, (with the exception of blue jeans). But that didn't stop a wierd married ms from telling me how he loved to watch my butt as I walked away or stood up for a song at the kh ( I had a bubble butt, and I guess he was an ass man). Anyway, it just goes to show that some guys are perverts, even when you dress to leave things up to imagination. Think about how strange the minds of some elders are when they ask molested children if they were dressed in a sexy manner.

401K vs University Education
by tresdecu inhere's something i thought about this morning that made me mad.
the wts is so anti-education now, saying the "end is so close" "deep in the last days" etc (tm) ...why have they not come down on having retirement plans?
i know many elders that work for big companies (younger guys in their 40s), they are planning for their future by investing etc....what!?

Unlike a college eductation, retirement plans don't cause evil indpendent thinking.
