I identified with that White Snake song too. I got out at the end of '87.

I listened to that song a million times the year I left the cult.

Do you tell people?
by MrFreeze inas an ex-jw do you tell people about your jw past?
how much detail do you go into when you tell non-jw's about the organization.
i usually only ever say anything if somebody asks about my religious affiliation or mentions jw's.

Little sis got shunned today by big sis
by nugget ini called my sister today and they said "we were shunned today.
" normally this is a bit of a non event after all how many faders get shunned on a regular basis.
i asked who it was and they said "big sis" now this is a shock.

What a shame! But both you and your little sister are better off without such a negative influence as a cult mind controlled zombie.

Lighter Subjects
by LoneWolf inhi, folks,.
i had a good laugh at broken promises' question back on the uniter - part 1 (http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/jw/friends/216396/1/the-uniter-part-1-it-was-sent-with-my-declaration-of-war) where he asked where i live so that he'll know who it is when some crazy old man goes nuts and instigates a mass killing.
t'ain't gonna happen.. nonetheless, i guess i can understand where he's coming from.

..."Chicken!"...how cute! My husband is a crusty, old coot too, but our grandkids always make him smile. The two-year old went to him with a banana peeled half-way, and she ate it to that point. She handed it to grandpa with the order, "Put more nana on it!"

So sorry for your loss...what a senseless death...the Watchtower has so much for which to answer.

What would the WT do if anti shunning laws were passed?
by Aussie Oz inwhat would the wt do if say, a country or countries enacted a law that made shunnung illegal?.
punishable by time in prison or heavy fines?.
would they have the gall to 'obey god as ruler' rather than man, and actually continue the practice in defiance of the law even though they would incur the wrath of governments?

From its past reord I ould guess that the society would load the literatrash with weasal words and leave the rank and file twisting in the wind.

told my parents to never ever tell me they love me again....
by oompa in...i told them in a very serious sitdown in their living room....said..."because if you cant show it then it does not count...that is not real love no matter who tells you it is....because it is how it makes me feel that determines if it is love....not if you just say it...and me and my sons do not feel that love at all now"....and i stayed calm and talked slowly and barely shed a tear as i held them back...and i had asked them to not say a word but just listen...dad said they would as long as it was not about religion as i knew he would.
this was two of the worst days of my life in a row..i told them the pain me and my boys feel from their shunning is worse than if they had died...that then i could grieve naturally and move on because that is normal....grief helps you cope...my grief is different because they choose to act like i am dead and normal grief does not seem to work on that.
i shared an epiphany with them i had about mens rules vs gods great idea of dna (but no i am not sure about a god anymore)it went kinda like this:.

Oompa, I'm glad you've taken one more healthy step forward. You and your sons are free. You've accomplished something that your parents, grandparents and great grandparents couldn't do!
