I agree with LisBobeesa. Try to find the movie, "A Girl Like Me, The Gwen Araujo Story". You may be able to watch it here:

Transgenderism is well explained in this movie.
so i thought i was a pretty accepting person.
sure i grew up in a bigoted cult who hates gay people.. now i'm an atheist who has no reason to care about anyones sexual prefferences.. .
but i've watched inverviews of trans people.

just been looking at book about the human body with my 8 year old boy and got to an 'interesting' part.
"dad, what is a penis?".
"erm, the appendage between your legs" (i do try to use proper words with him so was surprised he asked).
"Oh. I thought that was called a peanut"
Do you think it's possible that he heard someone call testicles "nuts" and confused it with the penis being called "peanut"?
I asked my mom what sex was when I was six years old. She wasn't a jw yet, so she gave me the facts. Well, it was so shocking and appalling to me that I thought she was lying to me. I told her if she didn't want to tell me the truth that she shouldn't make up something so disgusting. My indignation only intensified as she laughed til she cried.
i was just thinking that out of the 200 jws that i actually know, at least 4 of them to my knowledge are pedophiles.
i know for a fact, through personal confidences.
that means, as far as my circle of jovo friends/acquaintances goes, 2% of them are kiddy fiddlers.. without mentioning names or details, how many do you know of for a certainty to be pedos, and what percentage does it work out at, considering all your circle of jovo friends?.
Off the top of my head, I count three jw molesters.
i hope the powers-that-be in brooklyn are paying close attention to what is happening in state college, pennsylvania with respect to the hideous pedophile scandal at penn state university because it speaks directly to their own handling of pedophilia.
here is a news release about the matter:.
state college, pa. (ap) -- penn state's investigation into the jerry sandusky scandal concludes that the administrators who fielded a 2001 complaint about him created a dangerous situation for future victims by not reporting the matter.. the freeh group's report issued thursday said that in order to avoid bad publicity, president graham spanier, football coach joe paterno, athletic director tim curley and vice president gary schultz ''repeatedly concealed critical facts.''.
For some unknown reason I can't edit my post above. Anyway, here's how Freeh got involved in the case:
Judge Freeh and his law firm, Freeh Sporkin & Sullivan, LLP, were retained in November 2011 on behalf of the Special Investigations Task Force of the Board of Trustees of The Pennsylvania State University to conduct the independent investigation.

If I remember correctly, the appealed Conti case has to be tried with the same evidence as the first case, so it probably wouldn't be conducive for her attorney to hire this firm or one like it. Anybody have any suggestions on who would find it beneficial to do so?

wow.
louis freed (retired fbi) released a 200 plus page independant report on the culpability of the upper rants of penn state in the sandusky case and it it was not flattering!!!!!
what struct me was the reference that the university knew of the wrong doing for over 14 year and did nothing about it with the excepiton of covering it up.
Sorry, posted on wrong thread.

Harley Bear started a similar thread:
It seems to me that the quickest way to get exposure for the Watch Tower's similar misdeeds is to get this Louis Freed involved. Between Bill Bowen's tape of the advice, "Leave it in Jehovah's hands" to the evidence used in Gilbert Simental's criminal trial and Candace Conti's civil trial, there shouldn't be a difficult time in pronouncing the Watch Tower with the same condemnations as Penn State.
basically, i have a couple of questions about the current rules regarding disfellowshipping and shunning.
by current i mean since 1999.. sorry, but i have to put a bit of my history to clarify my situation.. i was a born-in who was baptized in 1983. got married to a sister in 1984. then the kids came.
by the mid-1990s my wife and i had become increasingly irregular, so that by 1999 we were both inactive and only went to the memorial and conventions.. in 1999 i committed adultery, confessed to the elders, and had a judicial committee.
Yes, it happened to my brother. He committed adultery but wasn't df'd, probably because the elders knew what a major bitch his wife was. He then proceeded to move out, file for divorce, and move in with a "worldly" woman, and still no df'ing. Then he met another "worldly" woman with whom he lived and eventually married. He still hasn't been df'd or even called for a jc despite the fact that his current address is on the divorce papers. But our mother, in her infinite self-serving jw smugness, refused to even see him.
What really cracks me up is that she asked my brother if his new wife wondered why he didn't have any family. Smart ass that he is, he asked our mom, "What makes you think I don't have any family?" She said, "Do you mean Jamie?" (yes, me the evil one who was df'd for making a false confession to adultery to get away from my dangerously abusive jw husband). And he said, "Yes, she's met Jamie."
The Watch Tower turns people evil! My mom cried the blues for years about losing her daughter, but the minute she had the chance to shun my brother, her only remaining child, she jumped on it like a rodeo bull rider.

I'm glad you started this thread, because I've been thinking the same thing. Why are football coaches and college administrators held to a higher standard than the leaders of the Watch Tower? Granted, it's a small religion, but Penn State is one university. And it can't be about the US's hesitation to get involved with religion. The Catholic Church has been criminally investigated resulting in criminal charges for a few of the higher ups. When is it going to happen to the Watch Tower?
about three years ago my wife went through a bout of problems with her eyes, double vision, trouble focusing and the like.
after weeks of going to specialists etc no one knew for sure what it was and after a few weeks it went away by itself.
a couple of weeks ago it came back along with some other symptoms, notably weakness and pain in her legs.
Sending good thoughts your way!
