i know of a recent experience in my circle of friends too.
it was the hearing of voices (mostly at night). the jw threw almost her whole household (including normal furniture and stuff) to the trash, but the voices stayed. one time she went out she came not back for two days until the police grabbed her up and put her to an hospital where a same kind of mental disorder was diagnosed and is treated right now.
i wonder how much sleep john of patmos had...

Jonestown - Seductive Poison - highlight
by besty ini've just finished reading this account by debbie layton and it is an incredibly revealing story of the inward spiral of cult membership.. i thought this section from her epilogue is worth sharing, definitely amongst ourselves but also perhaps with friends and family still 'in':.
"i hope my book will give my daughter some answers about how i got caught and how the jonestown tragedy happened.
i hope it will provide clues about the workings of a cult and shed light on the darkness of deceit.

"this book is another try of satan to let gods people shine in a bad light."
*sighs* im just saying what my jw mind thinks about it. not me. for me its true, true, true and i almost cry knowing that so many would dismiss it and dont even understand what it tells. -

overcompensating when leaving JWs?
by B_Deserter inever notice this phenomenon?
seems like a lot of people that leave in their early 20s tend to become wild party animals as soon as they leave da troof, getting tattoos, piercings and the like and going almost overboard with it.
anyone ever experience this?

its something many ppl do when they are set free. of course it helps the WTS locking up the others saying: "seeee, what happened to brother x or group y when they left the truth??! only in the truth you're saved!!!!1111oneoneeleven"
i fell for this too. -

Reasoning with JWs using Galatians
by R.F. inone of the final death blows to my beliefs of wt doctrine was really pondering over galatians 1. paul was very clear and strong in saying that there should be no gospel preached than what they taught, and they taught the simple message of jesus christ coming to earth, dying in our behalf, and his resurrection.
the gospel that jehovah's witnesses preach is obviously very different.
they've put in elements that are no where to be taught by early christian leaders.. so my question is.... how many of you have used this reasoning with the witnesses?
-
Marcel
very interesting... so... what are these doctrines which are menmade and differ from what the original message was?
the problem i see is an old one. what actually WAS the message of the first christians? there was no great crowd? yeah, but as JWs say its described in the bible so its part of the original message.
broken down its just the old question again: do the JWs teach the truth or not. nothing new then...
or am i wrong? -

Gluttony and Drunkenness
by journey-on ini knew several that got df'd for drunkenness but never anyone for gluttony.
as far as i can remember, in the bible there weren't categories or various levels of sin; and both these are mentioned as sinful.
last i looked, there were an awful lot of very obese witnesses in the congs.

Marcel
yeah thats one thing i wondered more than once about.
i never heard of ANYONE being dfed or in a jc for gluttony EVER! there are also almost none articles about it in the literature.
its strange. -

Next FDS Stunt?
by sweet pea inshopoholic is of the opinion that friday's dc talk about obeying/following the faithful and (not so) discreet slave no matter what, is indicative of some dramatic stunt the fds are about to pull.
.
any suggestions as to what this might be?
-
Marcel
next stunt is new blood policy. they're preparing for this one since a long time. and they're quiet far already. blood is already nearly completely allowed. its just a small step, but will still be a risk. and it will take some more years. but it will happen. im sure.

Anyone seen the Secret?
by Satans little helper insomeone lent me the dvd of the secret over the weekend.
we watched it last night and i wondered what everyone thought of it?
i thought that it was very "evangelical" and alot like the jw's - large on promise and small on content.
-
Marcel
of course there is a similarity to JWs and "the secret". its both faked BS from humans for humans. not worth it.

Have you ever faked a service report?
by Orgull init's only my third day here so, go easy on me.
lol.. seriously, my new doubts have made it harder and harder to go in service.
a few months ago, when a new month rolled around, i realized that i hadn't actually gone in service at all the previous month.

Proof of God's existence
by Blackboo infrom a logical point....i notice that in these threads that there are few here who dont believe in god..but i hate to tell you your dead wrong for having such an ignorant belief like that..instead ya,ll are blaming religion, people, and your personal problems for your lack of faith in god..thats dead wrong.
the non-believers are not looking at the whole picture..just the present..the things that go on in the world happen for a reason and it doesnt mean god doesnt exist.
the bible says "the fool has said in his heart god doesnt exist".

Has Anyone in the History of JWD Been Shunned On The Forum
by BFD ini was reading the thread about the wanderer and it seems he is very annoyingly stubborn.
i think i'm going to shun him.
lol.
-
Marcel
theres nothing wrong with shunning as long as it is based on someones personal decision towards an individual and not on a dogmatic rule from a selfappointed authority.
