I don't know either, but there is another Spike Tassel over on the Other forum who claims to be a "non-practicing homosexual". One and the same? Who knows. Certainly an interesting combination tho - "a non-practicing homosexual with asperger's syndrome". . . not enough therapy in the world....

Is Spike Tassel a resurrected DEF'D?
by AK - Jeff inthose who have been on here a few years, do you recognise the same style?
same refusal to answer intelligently those questions that deal with legitimate issues regarding the wts.
same intentional ignoring of those who he fears will ask those questions.

My JW parents met my wife, but would not see me...
by Confession inso it was time for the 25 year reunion of tawas area high school's class of '84.
because i was class president, i've been responsible for throwing all the reunions we've held.
while i come to michigan on business a few times per year, i don't usually make it all the way up to the little, northeast, lake huron tourist town where they live.

Not only do I think that was completely lovely on your part (to have made the effort and set the right example of unconditional love), but your wife sounds like a wonderfully kind, loving, and giving woman. How spectacular that she was willing to do that - both for you and for your parents.

Jehovah's Witnesses "snapping" under pressure, their flawed doctrine must be sending people "over the edge"!
by the research lady inin the last year the watchtower's public relations department is being inundated with inquiries concerning jehovah's witnesses and their bizarre behaviour.
the recent murder and cannabalism of a three week old baby is the latest in a series of ongoing horrific news articles linking jehovah's witnesses to acts of violent crimes.
http://www.seattlepi.com/national/408515_baby28.html?source=mypi what is causing these problems?

KKMan - I am well aware of Dr. Jerry Bergman and would encourage everyone to examine his credentials as I would encourage everyone to examine anyone's credentials with whom they work. I would also encourage them to examine the studies that have been done for veracity and scientific integrity as I would with any studies presented as fact. Post partum depression and schizophrenia is NOT a direct result of being a JW. To my knowledge, none of us have seen her medical records, worked with her directly, or have any firsthand knowledge of this situation. What happened was tragic, devastating, and mind-boggling.
I do not dispute the fact that Witnesses face incredible difficulty due to the controlling aspects of this organization. As has been said on more than one occasion, there is no way to leave with dignity. However, sensationalizing and providing false and misleading insinuations does not lend any dignity either and I truly believe it does far more damage and actually helps the organization survive as it lends credence to the Watchtower's statements about apostates.
Furthermore, I resent the phrase "your Jehovah's Witness friends" as I am not a Witness now, nor do I support this organization - far from it. I was born in and still have family in. It was a nasty little insinuation - but that honestly does not surprise me.
Everyone does what they can to the best of their ability in trying to help others. I draw the line when false or unsubstantiated ridiculous stories are presented as fact as seems to be becoming the norm. It ruins credibility and becomes one more thing to overcome when trying to help others out of the organization. I will not comment again on this thread as neither do I choose to participate in ongoing debates as we have seen on this forum as of late. It is not productive but destructive.

Agree w/ Blondie & Purps - schizophrenia and post partum depression has NOTHING, repeat NOTHING to do with being a JW. This kind of insinuation irritates the hell out of me. It's irresponsible, sensationalistic and does absolutely nothing but confirm that "apostates" are "lying" and closes the minds and eyes of JWs who potentially could open their minds to cult they are in. IT. DOES.NOT.HELP.
Is this a harmful mind-controlling organization? Absolutely. And those of us who are quietly working in the background to help those who are exiting are well aware of it. But these kind of off-the-wall blatantly ridiculous insinuations do far more harm than good. My dearest wish would be that these sensationalist and misleading "conference calls" would stop.
There. I've said it. I've avoided these threads and putting this out here for over a year now. Flame away.

Why don't you just invite one of YOUR friends to come over, too? Make the point without saying a word.

two witness ruling ?
by KAYTEE inif a paedophile commits a crime against a junior there has to be, according to the watchtower two witnesses for action to be taken.. if one party of a marriage commits adultery, does there have to be the same, (two witnesses) before action is taken?.
if not........................ kt.
.

To answer the ORIGINAL question (geez, people!) yes, the two witness rule still applies unless there is a confession or clear "evidence" (I use the term loosely) such as two witnesses observing someone spending the night at someone else's house.

Are you UNDERSTANDING towards Second, Third, and even Fourth-generation Witnesses on this forum?
by BonaFide indo you all realize how tough it is for a second-generation witness?
what about a third-generation witness?
fourth?.
-
Georgiegirl
Whoa. And today's Snarky Award goes to Johnnytwofeet! (shakes head). Really, people, does it always HAVE to go there?
Bonafide - yes. I get it. I am third generation and quite frankly, my family would "outrank" your elder friend. I faded and I'm fairly discreet. I don't post much because I am not In Your Face with being out of JWs...it's just not my personal style. There is alot of anger here by people who did choose the pay the price against people who have not made that choice. Just like JW shunning doesn't endear us to any of the organization, neither does snarkiness on the part of those who are out toward those still in.
I don't think there is a good, clear, firm answer to your questions because everyone is different. For me? YES. I would do it. I have a great life now but it took a couple of years (and a good therapist) to get here. Even though I faded and not DF'd or DA'd, my family still doesn't have much to do with me. I've created my own family out of dear friends who understand the real meaning of love and loyalty - my "worldly heathens" - (said with great affection).
Let me ask you this (and it's a little harsh) - if some horrific accident wiped out your family and you were left alone, would you survive? Would you go on? Of course you would. And eventually the pain and grief would fade and you would create a new and healthy life for yourself. The same can happen here. You don't know what will happen. You don't know if your family would eventually leave or not. You CAN move on. YOU have to make that choice. Until you do, you will continue to live in the confused, miserable, and depressed hell that you CHOOSE to live in. It's all about choice. It takes courage. I think most of all - it takes really believing in yourself and your abilities.
Where do you want to be in 5 years? Still floundering about? For me and many others here? That would be a waste of our lives. For others, it's the right choice. (shrugs) But don't be angry at those who don't seem to "get" the difficulty - because so many of us do.
