talking to a friend (ex-elder) today whose wife was (is) a close friend of mine .
she's still a jdub but won't talk to me now i'm df'd (apparently it hit her very hard when we left) and so she busied herself with ministry and meetings in search of comfort and affirmation of her faith.
this didn't work for her and she came out with an unexpected question... .

That my friends (jw friend) favorite line - what else is there? He always says " no body can convince me of the trinity" so what else is there? I just don't understand the need to have an organization or belief systems to be happy and lead a good life.

i was an elder for 10 years.
there were some questions that i was asked by the flock which.
i could not answer.
OK, I know I didn't really pay attention all those years of going to the KH, but do they really believe that if a wife or husband dies before the Big A and are resurrected they can't be married anymore?
I remember this JW woman died in a MVA she was married and had 3 children all very young. My mom told me not to be sad because she was just sleeping and after her "short nap" Jehovah was going to resurrect her to be with her family again I asked her what if he her husband got remarried would he have to keep both wives? All I remember her saying is just wait, Jehovah will sort it all out . Stop asking so many questions......blah, blah, blah.
So can anyone answer my question?

When I was 13 my dad told me that either I had to get baptized and dedicate my life to Jehovah or find somewhere else to live. So, I got dunked.

at least i don't think so.. he has a flu-like illness and feels pretty awful.
by his own admission, he's been neglecting himself these last few months, and i think with all the stres he's been under that perhaps his immune system is very low.
he looks pretty awful as well, like he's had all the blood drained out of him.. even so, he was going to get on with the things he needs to do today, at least until i intervened.

well folks...its been a good run in california and all but its time for me to depart...so in like 2 and a half weeks round the 25 th i will be packing my shite in the car and me and my buddy (who quit his job in nm, drove all the way out to cali to get me and is moving with me) adn we are drivin cross country from one coast (cali) to the other...(nyc) im still kind of in shock bout this whole thing but for some strange odd reason it feels right.... im gonna stop in nm briefly to see my traumatized mother, she is still reeling from my fathers untimely demise (course so am i), will be there a day or two before getting back in the car to nyc...my company has transferred me to the manhattan office to work so least i have a job.
will be staying with one of my buddys friends for a day or so...i have a thot that the company mite just put me up in a hotel for a while til i get settled...so its nyc for me!
i have a somewhat optimistic outlook stemming from the recent contact with my mother...almost weekly...granted the contact has been strained and it gets very emotional for both of us..her asking me questions that i dont want to answer adn the first time i do she sinks into depression...its been challenging...im still in and out of tears on somewhat of a regular basis...not takin any brain candy tho...now its just my name on this board...(as a reminder more than anything else i suppose) .

As for NYC, I love NY. I think it's great that you already have a job lined up. As for advise, " you can't get VD from a toilet seat" not matter what state you are in .

we know in high school there is always a seperation of the students to a point, in groups or clicks... like the nerds, the jocks, preps, stuck up types, popular/not popular, druggies, bullies, etc.
so after months of reading everyone here, i know there would be groups formed among all the members here, if we were to be put into a gathering situation.

dear friends,.
much of what we do on a daily basis is routine and of no particular, earth-shaking importance.
however, after reviewing letters of family going back to wwii, it is fascinating to read what dad was doing on board the aircraft carrier in the pacific on any old day, what mom was cooking on her ever-steaming range, how i was dealing with the roller coaster of emotion at bethel [mom saved all my letters], how nana wrote that she would not study with the witnesses [per my request] but 'here are some mittens i knitted for you when you canvass new york with your magazines.
Well it's Tuesay 11:10am and I'm off to a 4.5 hour meeting - I'm sure I'll be bored to death and hopefully I can keep my eyes open. Then tonight I have a dinner meeting so I'm starving cause I don't want to eat. I want to have an empty belly for dinner tonight!
