  well i finally got the, "we would like to stop by with the circus oversneer and have an encouraging visit.

  would ---------day be good, at say -----------?".

  it'll probably be a pretty dull visit with the entire conversation being only one way.

  I don't even bother with the first part, they don't need to know my schedule. They would probablt think "see, brother snakes is being kept busy by satan's ol' world." Not that I care what "they" think. lol

  I was raised in the borg from age 4. I left at age 40.5. After being a regular pioneer, elder, MTS grad, and a lot of other things along the way, you would think I would be bothered more...but I am not. Now, age 48, if they ever try that $hit with a CO, i have nothing to say except:"I have a great life with a beautiful wife, great stepson, and a full time job...none of which I ever had when I was at the hall."

  Anti-JW billboard going up in Texas

  the first ever billboard has been crowd funded on reddit and will be going up.

  i'm curious to know if it will cause a spark in any jw's who already have questions or doubts and lead them to research into the child abuse cases and lead them to the thought that the wt and gb are not inspired or gods mouthpiece.

  at the very least it will provide people a topic of conversation and questions to the jw's who knock on their door: "so whats this whole sex abuse in kingdom halls thing about i saw on the billboard down the road?

  With digital billboards becoming more common, I say use those. Lamar.com shows pricing for 3 days @$2,362. There is a board on I-70 near the exit the JWs go to the convention. Great thing is, one can change the board in real time. Hear something at the convention controversial? change the message to respond, always using the same site URL. Now THAT might get some attention. I pass those digital billboards everyday and always look to see what's new. Static billboards are the wallpaper of the road, they just blend in. Just a thought.

  I feel left out. The JWs **NEVER** come by my house to offer me the rags. I need to shred them and put them in my compost bin. OK....I was an elder and now Im probably labeled an apostate..."don't go *THERE*....he's apostate!"

  I heard that the elder school is 1-2 weeks at the compound in NY, is this true?

  I was removed as an elder Xmas 2006 (best gift ever), and left the cult Summer 2007 (best summer vacation ever, no door knocking in 100F heat.

  However, I DID attend the 8-week abomination MTS (Ministerial Training School) as a single (and recently appointed) elder. Mine was held in St. Louis, MO. What a joke. The hypocricy of the behavior of some if those so-called "spiritual" men. And NO support, financially or organizationally once you got to your assignment. Whoever is going to these elder schools, if it is held in Walkill or Patterson, try to get outside and enjoy the beauty of nature, Upstate NY is truly beautiful, marred only by the JW Resort and Indoctrination Center.

  First Time Post - Long time reader

  today is my first post on jwd, i was one of jehovahs witness for almost 50 years of my life, i was born into the religion.

  i was baptized at a young age and once i got married i was a very spiritual woman as they would call me.

  my husband and i served as full time pioneers, we traveled abroad and went to international conventions, did some special pioneer service in other states in the us.

  Congregation that have sent in money!

  in the past week, i have heard from a number of friends scattered all over the place.

  a number of them are very upset over the congregation being required, to send in all monies over $4,000.

  a number of these were kh's that were saving to buy land, and or build new kh's.

  I left over 7 yrs ago. Even when I was still in and an elder, I did not donate a dime to ANY funds, local or WT. Instead, I would buy things for our local hall I knew we needed, mulch, landscape pavers, cleaning supplies, TP, etc. That way I KNEW what it was for.

  this week's service meeting, the whole 30 minutes, is devoted to the "new songs" foisted upon jws.. note this from paragraph 8 of the km article that is to be considered:.

  this song, which was featured at the recent annual meeting, was specially composed to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of the kingdom.. .

  Sam Herd to speak at Orangeburg, SC assemblies Jan. 17-18

  i just heard a fairly reliable rumor that sam herd will be the "guest bethel speaker" at the circuit assemblies at the orangeburg sc assembly hall on january 17-18. .

  orangeburg is about halfway between columbia & charleston, assembly hall is right off i-26.. just in case any of y'all want to be enlightened.

  I knew the Herds before he became GB, while he was a DO  in the US midwest. I partly blame him and his wife for "encouraging" me to apply for and attend MTS. She was funny but tough old bird.  He was full of himself, and is the token black guy on the GB.
