Would you go to a meeting for a Klondike Bar?

actually...i am just hoping that mo/betta sex is just a huge fringe benefit (really hoping that!!!!!!!
) ......i may start going one or two times a month........and it was an idea handed to me by my friend bonnzo here.
he is a great guy all around....who loves his old pioneer mom enough to keep going to the meetings a bit instead of doing what we would both like to and walk away......actually we both would probably prefer that all our family and friends walked away and then it would not even be like walking away.
Would you go to a meeting for a Klondike Bar?

there are large numbers of muslims all over the world - i wonder what the laws regarding the marriages are in other countries and what would you do if you suspected your neighbour was one?

I'd turn them in for a Klondike Bar.

I would turn in my one neighbor for jaywalking. He drives his car with the bass thumping at 3 am, rattling the windows in my house.
My only consolation is that he will likely be deaf in about a decade. Too bad I won't be there to see it.
At least I have a nice 6 ft tall, 125 foot long stockade fence now... He has to go around to threaten me now....so far so good. And now I don't have to look at him and his crap.
Not that calling the cops does any good for any reason. I will take matters into my own hand if the neighbor ever tries anything else. Tired of cowering in fear.
Snakes (of the "normally a nice guy" Sheep Class)
Ps...in all seriousness, I dont care what the neighbors do as long as they dont attract riff raff into the neighborhood (you know, the ones with the loud stereos, throwing their garbage in my yard, fighting in the street). Its becoming a ghetto now as it is.... polygamy? That would be at the very bottom of my cares.
i guess obama didn't get the memo from the governing body regarding higher education.... it is our responsibility as lawmakers and educators to make this system work.
but it is the responsibility of every citizen to participate in it.
and so tonight, i ask every american to commit to at least one year or more of higher education or career training.
When they are supposed to clap. They are too stupid to get it on cue.

page 32... last page is the end of the study article itself......hmmm can't remember seeing that before.
brzfst.
I read the article about those serving in foreign lands but to work the English speaking territory (esp Mexico). I can remember in eons past I would have enjoyed such an article, not that I ever considered moving to a foreign land (except when I was engaged to a foreigner, but that was fantasyworld).
Now I read that article and try not to puke. If they were going to go and help in poor areas to help with social outreach efforts, more power to them. But they are going strictly to spread "The Good News™"..... I just want to puke.
Here is one quote:
There are an estimated one million citizens of the United States Living in Mexico. .
Yes damnit, they were trying to get away from those crazy Witnesses in the United States and retire in peace.

i loved research.
i used to pride myself in my knowledge of different watchtower society info, especially organization procedure.
so i always enjoyed digging into facts.
ATJ... your experience has a lot of similarities to mine... when I left MTS, I realized the BS but had to stick it out. I also researched every Borg nuance, both before and after becoming an elder. It did not win me friends on the 3 BOE's that I was a part of. The UN thing was a non event for me. The Generation thing bothered me long before 1995 as I had done extensive research on 1914, 607, etc. I was a strong researcher when it came to the prophecies and chronology. However, I did not rely strictly on WT publications, something that a couple of elders reminded me was a "bad idea" (their words). As you know from Gilead (and MTS), 607 is considered the "pivotal date" in WT chronology. The fact that 607 has been debunked has not deterred the WT from sticking to its 1914 story.
98% (a high percentage number that I randomly pulled out of my a$$ to illustrate a strong majority) of rank and file publishers, and likely a nearly as large number of MS/elders/COs and higher, do not keep track of all the flip flops.... or if they do, they don't say anything to anyone; nor does it move them to think for themselves or help them escape the lie. Too much at stake.
What seems to bother more of the rank and file is the lack of love shown by the leaders, the lack of justice shown by the leaders, or both.
Although it took me another 5 years after MTS to make my escape, I have done absolutely no "research" on JW doctrine since then because I consider all of the WT stuff as BS..and I consider religion in general BS. I have read books and experiences online (here and elsewhere) of ex-JWs and how they deal with post-JW life... that is more useful for me than rehashing old JW beliefs. My only reading about JW doctrine now is Blondie's (and Mary's) commentaries on the recent WT...that's all I can stomach..and it serves as a good reminder to me why I left...for that I am grateful to their hard work.

have you ever participated in the national census?.
what kind of questions do they ask?.
what changes in questions do you think we'll be in for this time?.
BTS... they cant prove you recieved them and they cant prove you didnt mail them back. That's why Census takers are sent out. To get the hold outs. lol.... We pissed off a lot of people in East St. Louis in 2000....they all know it is important to answer the Census because it results in more government money for welfare, housing, etc.... they mailed them, census lost them, sent people out to re do it...then sent us out to verify....yeah..they werent happy with the Census in 2000.
So there are monetary penalties for failing to reply ($100), lying on the form ($500), trying to change the outcome of a count ($1,000 and/or a year in jail)....

I was an enumerator (census taker) back in the Census 2000 count.
The Census will send out a form to every household. In years past every 6 households would get the nosy "Long Form." Everyone else would get the "Short Form." You fill it out and mail it back..that's it. If you don't answer a certain percentage of questions on the Long Form (or all of them on the Short form)...or you put goofy answers on your form (ie, the man who put "Serial Killer" on his Long Form for "occupation," (question 28) then they send out an enumerator to get proper answers....or if you don't mail the form at all (or the Census loses it...nah that never happened ), then they send the Census workers out. (I got to go back and talk to Serial Killer guy....he gave me very little information...but did give me proper information on the absolute necessary information when I let him know it was a crime to lie on Census forms..for a lot of the rest of the information about his house, I went to public records for the info). Supposedly this information (at the individual level) is not released to anyone, not even other government agencies, for 80 years.... Even after 9/11 this is supposed to be the case....
As to the kinds of questions.
This is a link to the 2000 Census short form. It is just a half dozen questions that are asked for each person living in the household on April 1, 2000 (Census Day), even if different people are living there now.... you ask about where they were on 4/1.
This is a link to the 2000 long form: There are 53 questions for the first person on the form (head of household) and 31 questions for each additional person.
For 2010, they have started hiring...the first wave is to go and update every single address in the US. In the fall, they will start hiring/training for the spring 2010 census...
Very interesting, the 2010 Census is going to be Short Formfor everyone. They did a dress rehearsal last year in 2 places.... More what the Constitution requires. That link is for the form they used.
By the way, the Census Bureau, through the Department of Commerce, is taking surveys all year round, every year, not just every 10 years. All of the data you see on TV comes through that work.
It was interesting work.... you have to turn a blind eye to illegal activity, illegal immigrants, etc. Federal prison if you leak info. (if I had seen child abuse I would have figured out a way to report it anon). It was interesting work. Haven't decided if I will do it again this time around.

did the thought ever cross your mind?
i have done so very recently.
i might someday - i am tired of having no friends, my life in the rearview mirror.. jeff.
Yeah I could never go back. And I figured you were just throwing crap on the wall to see what sticks.
If I went back, I would have to grovel before at least 2 elders to confess everything I have done since walking away.... that list is getting long but not long enough.... but includes voting in the election (non neutral actions) , being on an apostate web site (apostasy)....
Then go through their judgement of "do we DF him since he knows better as a former MTS elder...or do we just reproove him...or do we just ignore it...." I figure I would get DF, especially on apostasy charges....considering I had a hand in DFing someone (that is an occasional poster here) for apostasy....I was on their JC.... they would not overlook that irony (or hypocrisy in their eyes).
In any case, the elders would keep such an eye on me after that.... and I would have to jump through all the hoops...field service..at least national average.... commenting at meetings and giving number 2 (I mean number 1) readings... start making quick progress back to MS then elder....
no thanks, not interested in the hampster wheel.
I dont have many friends, in or out, but the ones I do have are pretty good, even if I dont get to spend much time with them. Better unconditional friends I see occasionally than judgmental JW "friends" I have to see 2 or 3 times a week.
