my apologies if this topic has previously been spotlighted.. the following is a portion of the the recent money-grabbing letter from jw.org.
it's on page 4 - one of the three pages which only the elders were allowed to read.. "surplus funds: is it necessary to save congregation funds for future construction or major renovation projects?
what should be done with excess congregation funds that are currently being held or that may accumulate in the future?
Here is how you keep from sending WT "excess" money: DON'T PUT IT IN THE CONGO ACCOUNT UNTIL NEEDED LOCALLY. CO can't take what he can't see.
And if you are a signatory and won't cooperate, you won't be a signatory. lol

it's likely that the grand jury verdict on the michael brown incident will be released in the coming days or weeks.. i've no doubt many people are going to feel strongly about things whatever the verdict is.. whatever the outcome though, here's what's not going to happen:.
we're not going to put up with inflamatory language and comments designed to rile others up.
be respectful.. we will not allow accusations of racism simply because some have a view of the verdict that contradicts others.. there will not be invented evidence or claims being repeated - if it's been falsely reported or debunked then it's off limits.. it's not going to be an opportunity for people to air past gripes over past discussions.. if you feel that you cannot discuss the subject in a rational way then it may be better to simply avoid any topics on the matter.. please try to be objective and respectful if you do decide to comment and not keen to take offense.
Indisputable facts:
1) MB is dead and his family is heartbroken.
2) DW's life and career are ruined, he and his family will be in danger for a long time, no matter the verdict.
3) Ferguson will never be the same. I drive through there for work, at least one Dr. Office has relocated, supposedly temporarily
4) No matter the verfict, SOMEONE won't be happy.

i found out that my husband has not only gone to the elders, but has been going to members of my family about me over a period of a few years.
this piece of news is just so depressing.
i've been wondering how my family knew i didn't go and thats why so many of them have becoming more and more distant.
Sad to hear this. Breaking trust = direspect = no love = ex-spouse. Respect, trust necessary for love.
Having said that, only you know what is best for you emotionally. Legally, you don't know enough, so get legal counsel to protect yourself and your kids.

the social structure in the congregation is more complex than the blueprints of a nuclear warhead, but just so that you "remember your place", see if you can find where your niche was/is:.
1. at the top of the social order of things within the congregation is of course, the presiding overseer and his family.
I attained a status of 1.5, never made PO/COBOE. I did make secretary, was a single elder, pioneer MTS grad, but had to fight for every bit of so-called privileges I got. Trust me when I say that I had elders fighting my upward climb at every turn. Apparently, I didn't know my place. LOL.
Eventually, the local elduhs didn't like one of their own going to college. After they deleted me as being "unreasonable," I changed congos, quickly faded, and have been off their radar, mostly, since 2007. Guess that makes me a zero.

i think everyone here can agree that walking down the street, even in the middle of the street, is not cause for having a clip emptied in your ass......... i can understand how the black community would be outraged by the injustice of seeing another black man dead in the street at the hands of the police under mysterious circumstances....... i hope that i'm not succumbing to the attempts to assinate the already well impuned character of the dead man...... however.
i can't help but think that this could all have been avoided by exercising the proper discretion with fore-knowledge of the disadvantages people of color have when they are dealing with law enforcement in the united states.
it is not as if this disadvantage has only since recently came to light.

Ironically, Ferguson in the 1960s was a white community. I drove through there recently while working. What the media shows is the burned out convenience stire (QT) and other businesses. What they dont show is the nice, quet, neat bungalows where white and black get along fine. My friend Jackie is right in her assessment.
I just hope when the grand jury returns with their decision not to indict Officer Wilson, the few bad apples dont overpower the majority goid ones.
