Bonsai..
I will try to update soon, I am now on a tablet not pc as I was earlier, so posting at length is tedious. The onscreen keyboard has "issues." lol

"mental wondering in the wilderness"... uh oh.... it's a long post from snakes.... lol.
yep... i think that is the best way to describe where i am at in life right now.
if you have read my past posts (mostly in the private section) you know some of my history as a life-long (now former) witness.. i have been away from the jw religion, for all intents and purposes, since dec. 06, though it was not until sept 07 that i stopped attending meetings.

this is a bump. I had not seen the original bump from 2 years ago. I was doing a search for some of my old posts to possibly link to a more recent one. I think this is one of them.
Man how my life has changed from 7 years ago.

steve2 initiated a discussion on how our former loving brothers and sisters are behaving, while engaging in the 'trolley work.
' (link: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/93590001/within-one-minute-jw-trolley-directs-me-jw-org ).
my own observations are the same as the posters report on steve2's thread.
So I live in a town of <29,000. There are 2 congos here. Until 91 I was in one then the ither until 02. We did street witnessing, but as you can imagine, not much foott traffic. I finally seen two people with a cart in an unusual location. I think was the COBOE and his wife, both pioneers. Check out the location on Google Street View
Near a dental college, near a statue, little foot traffic. Stupid

so my wife and i went to th yesterday.
the chain started opening stores in the st. louis, mo area about a month ago.
by now the bugs should be worked out.
Wtwizard: I agree with you about supporting local. TH is not near where we live, we were shopping nearby, had heard on the news about them, and thought we'd try it. We have several locally owned small bakeries in our town we prefer. We make our own coffee (usually Trader Joe....ironically owned by Aldi), sometimes from a local roaster.
Heaven: my wife will probably call today, 800# no answer on Saturday. The TH we went to had the faux fireplace, we sat in the chairs, but we moved to a table.
WC: panera (here called St. Louis Bread Co.) has better pastries. The best thing I got at Bread Co. is my wife. She worked there when I first asked her out on a date. Oh yeah, TODAY JULY 27 is our 4th wedding anniversary. LOL

My wife ordered a cherry pastry and an iced coffee. Do you know what it looked like? A convention pastry had been run over flat, removed from the package, and put in the case. Then the cherries removed. The "cherry" part looked as if had been scraped from the bottom of the can. My wife ate one bite and was done.
Her coffee... the girl at the counter filled the cup to the top, THEN poured off 2 ounces. WHY? My wife asked for cinnamon, and they were going to put cinnamon SUGAR in it. Ugh. My wife wanted to put her own stuff in the coffee, but they did not have it out.
My black coffee was ok, the chocolate cake donut was small but tolerable. Sadly, for a place supposed to be known for baked goods, the missed the mark.
Is this place hetter in Canada? I just do not get the Tim Horton mystique.

i am now a jedi, so trust me on this.. .
why dis-associate, you are just playing by the wts rules?
how can you dis-associate anyway, you never thought you were baptised as a watchtower society member, you thought your dedication was to god, so why formally disassociate from something you did not formally join?
It's funny seeing this thread resurrected 6 years later. I commented on it more extensively then than now. Then I had only been out 2 years, now it is 8 years.
This subject of recognizing my JW/WT baptism. I married a Catholic gal 4 years ago (we were just dating 6 years ago). She has gone through the process of getting Annulments of her 2 previous marriages. Her final step in being a good little Catholic is getting OUR marriage recognized in the Catholic church.
How does this tie into this thread? Because I had to go in and be interviewed by the parish priest. Nice fella. Then and there I told him I am no religion, not going to be Catholic, but that I no longer recognize my JW baptism, but there is no mechanism for annulment. I signed some paperwork, vowed loyalty to my wife, and off we went.
My wife just got the letter back from the Dioscese today recognizing our marriage. They have a very legalistic system, could school WTBTS. Lol
So the dubs can kiss my pale, white ass.

once a month about 15 to 20 elderly jw publishers would meet at the kingdom hall and one elder was assigned to set up the system so they could view jw broadcasting.
these publishers were long time pioneers, former elders, and long time publishers who know nothing about computers or the internet.
they are the last batch of those expecting the generation that saw 1914 or understood it--- to not die off.
Funny, when I first left the dubs, I had never cooked a turkey for Thanksgiving. My then fiancee, now wife (never a dub), had to work our first Thanksgiving together. She had to work at 5 am. It was left to me to prepare for her family.
How did I learn? I looked it up on the internet, that same place, while still an elder, I learned TTATT right here on JWD.
What a great tool the internet. I hope this refusal to help the elderly sisters leads them to the net, but not to J W dot borg. lol

i recently heard angelo catanzaro, a rather prominent figure in the organization .. a long-time district overseer and a favorite of knorr's, died recently.
there was some indication that he and his wife figured out ttatt in their latter years and turned "apostate"... .
does anyone out there know what happened to them?
I think Angelo was in the St. Louis area in the 70s when I was a kid. Shrugs.

so fisherperson sent me a pm asking a bunch of questions re my time at beth hell.
rather than respond in a pm i will post the q/a here as i have nothing to hide.
q:what years did you serve in brooklyn bethel?
I was never a FT bethelite, but I temped twice, one for 3 week in Brooklyn (around 1989), the other for 4 weeks in Walkill (95 I think). I loved Walkill, esp. In October.
I was assigned to a crew at Walkill, I think finish carpentry, which I was distinctlu UNqualified for. For a few days, I was assigned to work on the roof of a new residence building. One day during lunch, I stayed on the roof, enjoyed the day, took some great pics.
The next day at Morning Worshit, an Announcement was made that no one was to be on the roof during lunch. LOL. Oops.
One week cabinets were being delivered to the farm from brooklyn. A whole shed full. I was assigned the task of breaking down the shipment so they could be moved to the new building. No direction on HOW. I organized, repalletized by room, labeled them, and let the movers know what order to load and unload. Thankfully, no one contradicted the system. Later I was told it was the smoothest fixture install they had, previous heavies that organized it had no clue how to properly expedite.
I was on a cool crew, they even snuck coffee breaks in. They had a sad 4 cup coffeemaker in their shop. I went into town that evening and bought a new 12 cup maker and a package of GOOD coffee. Next day, snuck in early and set up a pot to brew at break. You would have thought they won the lottery. Only one sister knew I set it up. I never said it was me. I had to have my coffee, and the swill they called coffee at breakfast SUCKED.
I could never have survived FT bethel, and in fact, I sent Sydlyk a letter withdrawing my FT bethel ap after that. I made up some $hit about loving the ministry, blah, blah. Got a nice note back, but reality: I hated bethel overall, twice was enough.

through personal experiences which i'd rather not relate because it would give away my identity i have come to a realization.
many brothers own businesses that a greatly supported by witness activities.
when local congregations need some service they will prefer to do business with a jw.
As a side note, there is now a mid page banner ad for Ministry Bagz. Smh
