I had to submit to a drugs test yesterday.
by joe134cd ini had to submit to a random work place drugs test yesterday, of which i passed.
in this country smoking marijuana / methamphetamine is illegal.
the thing that really struck me was that despite the illegal nature of it, was just how prevalent and problem is.

Would You Ever Go Back To The Witnesses??
by minimus inevery once in a while you hear people say they actually “miss” their old witness friends and or family.
some would have even stayed in the organization if they became a bit more liberal and open minded.

Hmmmmm..... I wouldn't go I to a Kingdumb Hell of Jehober's Witlesses for ANY amount of money, for ANY reason, including my JW mom's funeral. Thankfully, she does not want a funeral when she dies.
I HAVE been to 2 JW weddings since leaving. One for my big sister (not related, but close friend at one time), one for a friend who was my best man at my wedding to a non JW, both held at an outside non JW facility. Both officiated by the same elder. Both very incoherent even to the dubs in attendance, even by low dub standards.
Never again. Not in a KH, AH, or convention since summer 2007.

PIMI relative complains about convention venue.
by joe134cd ini have just got of the phone with a relative complaining about the convention venue.
as far as my relative is concerned wt can do no wrong, so for him to say what he did it must of been bad.
the venue where the convention was held was described to me as a “tin shed with no air conditioning”.

Busch Stadium 2, Astroturf, International CONvention, St. Louis, Missouri USA. 120°F on the field. Summer 1978. I was 11. Hotter than hell.
International 2019 held inside, but that place echoes. Former football stadium. Glad I missed it.

Latest Circuit Assembly Money Assault!
by eyeuse2badub inprobably not new to many of you but i'm gonna post it anyway!.
i went to a circuit assembly last week at the fremont, ca assembly hall in fremont, ca to be with my wife so she could be there to 'witness' the baptism of a person she "studied" with about 2 decades ago!.
at the main entry to the assembly hall there are 3 or 4 large double door entrances.

I attended an International Convention in Hamburg Germany in 2006. I was shocked to see the brothers manning credit card machines for donations.
Gotta wonder how many go into debt to keep up their donations?

Not training speakers/teachers any more?
by eyeslice2 innot having attended any meetings since about 2001, for reasons of safety (sounds a bit dramatic but i don't like my wife being out on her own late at night where we live now), i have started accompanying her to the mid-week meeting.. when i was young, the ministry school and service meeting were central to training brothers to take the lead.
you were assigned instruction talks, then if you cut it, you moved pretty rapidly to public talks - a full 55 mins at the time.
i was just 18 years old when i gave my first public talk and this was a first step to moving rapidly through the ranks.

My JW mom has been in this cult for 50 years in 2020. At 76, her non JW husband is battling health issues that he will likely succumb to soon. She will be all alone in a little town in South LA. (Lower Alabama...local joke). All she has is her JW family there. She won't come back to the Midwest where I live because it gets too cold, she won't go back to Florida because she hasn't kept up with her JW "family" there. I am afraid for her to wake up at this point.
An e-religion will not be enough for her.

Hey Cognac... long time no see. Sorry you are going through this mess.
I wish I had info for you, I have been out 12 years now, my info as an elder is old. Others are probably offering great resources. One thing never changes...the GB engages in "Theocratic Warfare." ...aka Lying.
Keep us posted, good to hear from you, even if the circumstances suck.

'Experiences(tm)'! Made up or totally true??
by punkofnice inat one assembly(tm), i was asked to relate an 'experience(tm)' which i did.
however, during rehearsals, the geezer in charge elder or co or some such title, told me that i shouldn't tell it the way it was.
i did a 're-enactment(tm)' with another 'brother(tm)'.

Yep we were instructed at MTS to "massage" the experiences. It wasn't about the publisher's experience, it was about making whatever point the Teaching Committee wanted to be made.
I once was interviewed because of graduating MTS, single pioneer elder, blah blah. The CO wanted me to embellish ( not his words, mine). When I got on stage, I told "my" experience, not "his." Seems like after that I was not asked to do many CA or SAD parts again, and NEVER asked to be on a DA, despite my CV in the Borg and speaking ability.
Meanwhile, Brother Goober Pioneer Elder (aka TG, Wood River), was always on parts for ASSemblies. Turns out, he enjoyed spanking the monkey looking at porn and ripping off little old ladies in the ACN phone MLM scam. I ALMOST got him removed. Then he took the CO golfing and I was removed instead. LOL.
7 months later, I walked away and have never been back...12 plus years later.

International Convention this year in St. Louis.......missed opportunity for protesters!
by krismalone ini attended the international convention this year (to avoid chaos in family life).
the convention center was right on the middle of downtown st. louis.
the cult members had to stand in line on the public sidewalk before entering the arena.

I drove by the site in St. Louis. I did not see protesters, but the could have been at the main entrance, which is just off the main road (Broadway). I agree, JWFACTS would be short and sweet. Bored dubs would look it up while sitting around.
Once, outside the Jai lai (sp?) stadium in Florida during a JW convention, a guy was handing out leaflets in the morning on the road to the parking lot. All the dubs rolled up their windows as they drove by. Too bad, the deli coupons he handed out were a good tasty deal. I stopped and told the guy he needed a sign. He had more takers the next day.

Did You Think Jehovah’s Witnesses Were Typically “Racists”?
by minimus ini was a jw from infancy.
we had a melting pot type of congregation.
i grew up with all types of witnesses , all with different backgrounds.

I wish I could say the same. Our area is 66% white, 27% black. We had many mixed couples in the hall. But in later yesrs, or maybe I became more aware as an adult, then especially as an elder, I seen first hand the subtle racism that simmered beneath the surface.
I watched an especially explosive argument betweem a younger black elder and an old school white elder in an elders meeting. Don't even remember the cause, but it was awful.
The congregation territory I was in for a few months after MTS was 88% white, 3% black. They sent me (white guy), a black guy, and a hispanic guy from our class. We were not welcome. I left pretty quick.
Moved back to a cong. near the first, and it 95% white territory. White elders ruled the congo. Only blacks were transplants. Awful.
For the last 21 plus years I rented the same house in a fairly diverse neighborhood, but it leans black. Mostly no trouble. I recently bought a house, 2 doors down, same street. Doubled down invested here.
Less trouble and racism here than some JW congos I was part of.
