Last night's bible highlights: David was wrong to greive for his son!

last night's bible highlights was really eyebrow raising!

the brother pointed out at lenght about how david had wept when his son absalom was killed.

but that because absalom was killed while opposing jehovah that means that david was wrong and weak to greive for him.. it was applied to today by saying that if our children are df'd when they die then we should not grieve for them either!.

Because of their nature, dirges are associated with moaning and wailing (Eze 2:10), and at least some of them were written down and preserved. Second Chronicles 35:25 reports that Jeremiah chanted over deceased King Josiah and indicates that there once existed a collection of dirges (Heb., qi·nohthʹ), for it is there stated: “All the male singers and female singers keep talking about Josiah in their dirges down till today; and they have them set as a regulation over Israel, and there they are written among the dirges.”

Gates of Hades will not overpower the Congregation? 1900 Years with NO Congregation??

matthew 16:18: also, i say to you: you are peter, and on this rock i will build my congregation, and the gates of the grave will not overpower it.. and yet, the very latest david splane video on tv.jw.org says there was no faithful slave for 1900 years and no true congregation, and perhaps not even any anointed living.. how does this scripture make any sense then?.

Jesus says: The Congregation will NEVER be overpowered.

The Governing Body says: The Congregation was overpowered for 1900 years.

And yet, the very latest David Splane Video on tv.jw.org says there was NO Faithful Slave for 1900 years and NO true Congregation, and perhaps not even any Anointed living.

How does this Scripture make any sense then?

New David Splane Video: No 1900 Year Faithful Slave

governing body member david splane has a new video on tv.jw.org where he talks about all the horrible things committed by martin luther and the protestant reformers.. his conclusion is that there has been no faithful and discreet slave on the earth during the past 1900 years (before 1919 i guess.).

he also says that maybe there were a few anointed on earth, maybe not.. he did add an interesting statement that he doesn't condemn the other churches just for misunderstanding the bible because the society has done that.. another odd point, was that he actually mentioned catholic missionary work in a somewhat positive light, while totally condemning the reformation views on predestination..

Outstanding points.

There was a 2010 Watchtower explaining that anyone who died in all those years who did not have an opportunity to hear the Kingdom Message would receive a resurrection to earth.

Even though for years I heard them say the only opportunity available from 33 C.E. to 1935 was the Heavenly Hope.

But they've dumped the 1935 doctrine now too.

One other Scripture I would add to these points is, what did Jesus mean when He promised Peter that the gates of Hades would never prevail against His congregation?

it looks to me like the society is rapidly moving back to the february 2008 watchtower "new light" on "this generation," which said this:.

* jesus used "this generation" to mean "anointed ones.".

* in the first fulfillment, jesus was promising that some anointed ones would still be alive to witness the events of 70 c.e.. * in the secondary fulfillment, jesus was promising that some anointed ones would still be alive when jesus returns to judge the sheep and goats.. the new 2015 jw research guide posted on jw.org lists this 2008 watchtower article as the first article people should read about the "clarified understanding" of the generation.. this 2008 view also matches the statement in the new 2015 jesus--the way, the truth, the life book, which says that "this generation" refers to disciples who see the signs of the last days.. i think they are abandoning the overlapping part..

Current new light, as far as I know, is that it's good for Witnesses to privately grieve and to pray for their Disfellowshipped family members as long as they aren't flagrant apostates.

Also, publications say that Jehovah grieves for Disfellowshipped prodigals and He desires they return to Him.

Are You "Technically" Still A Jehovah's Witness?

even if you don't regard yourself as a practicing jw, some may view you simply as inactive, a lost sheep, etc.. if you were baptized but not disfellowshipped or disassociated, you may still be a jw---right?

WT answer to the question: Who made Jehovah's dwelling place?

before i pose my question, please correct me if my understanding on any of these points on wt beliefs are incorrect.. 1. jehovah god alone has existed from eternity.

he used no pre-existent material to form anything.. 2. jehovah has a literal dwelling place, albeit not made from anything from,and not contained within, creation itself.

3. jehovah god, alone, created jesus at some point before the creation of everything else.

I don't know the Society's official stance on this, but in the 1990's and early 2000's, I heard some JW elders give these answers before:

1: Jehovah created the spiritual Heavens out of the same "holy spirit energy" material (or out of nothing) that He used to create everything else. Before this, there was just God, nothing else.

2: Somehow Heaven (the spirit realm) is eternal just like God is eternal.

3: God lives in outer space but deep, deep, deeply beyond anywhere that we can ever discover.
