Oh boy....I am in deep trouble....I dared to question....
Excellen critique on apostasy.
Actually, the GB couldn't grab their ass if they were sitting on their hands. But that is another discussion.
my apologies for not posting this here sooner, but i've been swamped with a very big project... one that i will share with you in the not too distant future.. this is my most recent youtube video and addresses a subject i've identified as extremely important to many of us ex witnesses.. it's called deconstructing apostasy, and basically it examines apostasy according to watchtower... my hope is that the message will start to break down the barriers of what an apostate is and how the watchtower uses that term to effectively subjugate its members by silencing any conscientious questioners.. hopefully you'll be able to see it below, otherwise here's the link (it's best viewed on youtube in high definition) - deconstructing apostasy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n3j5hkv2cnw.

first, let's clear something up: for many people, it's no longer a question of recession - the depression is here and may last for many years!.
this could be true if you live in many parts of europe, or africa or ...... michigan!
let the 'experts' quibble over definitions, to me jobless rates of 15 to 20 % with little hope of change signals a depression where you live.. some suggestions:.
One of the biggest things with food is avoiding processed, pre-packaged foods.
A bag of potato chips costs as much or more than a bag of potatoes and a bag of potatoes goes a long way.
We don't need as much animal protein as we are led to believe.
A few ounces a day, even for children is plenty, and cutting down on dairy and meat is one way to cut costs.
There was a great book published in the '70s that is still relevant today..."Diet for a Small Planet" by Francis Moore Lappe is a useful resource for families that are trying to "make it."
those of you who have been around here for awhile now about this.......but while talking to hubby today another detail popped in my head.my jw adolescence was troubled.
i stayed in trouble.i want to tell you guys about my jc when i was 15 and the subsequent talk that was given in front of god and everybody during the ministry school.well, i had sex with a boy.
not just any boy.
Dinah,
My heart goes out to you for the kind of pain you had to go through.
When I was an elder I had the impression that many of those guys wished we still lived in ancient times when they could take someone out and stone them.
As far as I am concerned, the Dubs don't treat women any better than Islam fundamentalists do.
It amazes me that so many really smart women stick with it.
All the best,
Alex

Circular reasoning...it has ever been thus. There probably is not much hope for humans to outgrow religion and the need to believe in a creator.
over the past couple of weeks as the bernard maddoff scandal has been unfolding i couldn't help but see the parallels between his ponzi scheme and the wt society's behavior over its history.
the wt society and the governing body have perpetrated a scandalous spiritaul ponzi scheme on some of the most vulnerable members of our society and others who were just good hearted, idealistic people wishing to see a better world.. .
just like maddoff, the wt society (and by extension the governing body):.

Just like Maddoff, the WT Society (and by extension the Governing Body):
1. created an "elite" club that could only be joined if you met certain very high standards and were invited to join
2. has always sought the implicit, blind trust of its "investors"
3. encouraged "investors" to invest all the fruits of their lives in the scheme
4. has known in their "heart of hearts" that the whole pitch was/is based on empty promises
5. has kept moving the "prize" so that it is always tantalizingly within reach
6. like many ponzi scheme perpetrators, perhaps started off with honest intentions but then had to twist, distort, and lie to keep the whole thing afloat
7. is remorseless for the uncounted ruined lives, shattered dreams, and stunted potential they have mercilessly imposed on the rank and file
8. will escape adequate justice for the swath of destruction they have left in the wake of their scheme
Yup....Spiritual Ponzi....ya' gotta' love it ......NOT!!!!!
this is the hope....in a nutshell.. .

So...was the bear in the river looking for grass to eat ??? (a la' the lion will eat grass just like the lamb)...too bad they didn't let that clip run a little longer until the bear pulled up a writhing salmon and shredded it for dinner.
i have been talking to steve hassan who is the author of 'combatting cult mind control" about coming to london for a 3 day event in autumn 2009. initially the idea was to make it all about jehovah's witnesses and support for those having left the religion and leaving their jw issues behind them.
we may make this an event for ex-cult members in general, but there will be a big section specifically catering to the issues surrounding the jw organisation, leaving it and life after it.
the cost of steve being there and flying to london; will be shared amongst those attending, so there will be a ticket price for the event, which i will figure out later when i've got an idea of how many will be likely to attend.. .
I will if I can arrange my affairs to take the time to do it.
This sounds like a great idea, plus I've always wanted to visit the British Isles.
Thanks,
Alex
i would love to take a trip like that.
my circumstances don't allow me to, but i do wish you a great trip.
sometime, when i have time for a vacation, i want to take a motorcycle trip from coast to coast.
Renee, I will definitely contact you when I am on the way into Mississippi...thanks for the encouragement.
As soon as I get a chance I will post a map of the route for any of you guys who are interested in meeting.
