i promised or i would not go...i tried to get out of it by saying "i'm not sure if i should cause i don't want you to get your hopes up, or anyone else's, cause i am only doin this for your and for some social reasons".....i just knew she would say to just stay home then.....but nothing but silence and then a change of conversation...so this will be awkward, but i think i have a bit of a masochistic tendency............oompa.
what if i hand out copies of blondies comments on the wt tomorrow??
?.
Oomps,
I think you have a latent desire to be a secret agent conducting dangerous (dare I say, everlasting life threatening) undercover operations.
You might be onto some new career options with black ops stuff in some deep dark ultra-secret government organization.
In the meantime, have fun.
What's the worst that can happen? They DF you....??? So what!!!! Tell them to kiss your ass.

That could be very interesting (handing out Blondie's comments). Let us know how that goes if you do it. Good luck with whatever you do. You will need it.
How about the book study location being referred to as the "rendezvous"....???
Can you imagine an Dub sister telling her non-Dub husband that she was leaving. He asks where she is going and she tells him that she is going to the "rendezvous"....????
That expression was used until at least 1973 or 1974...maybe even later.
in the recent past i have recalled many kindnesses shown me as a younger man.
i probably said "thank you" at the time of a person's single kind gesture or act [polite thank yous were expected of 50s children]; some older people have acted on my behalf, however, over a period of time in ways that shaped me in a favorable way.
i couldn't have been aware at the time that their nurturing or mentoring me would have such far-reaching results.. several years ago it occurred to me how instrumental an older person's generosity toward me as a child put me where i am today.
CoCo,
Funny you should bring this up. I've actually been thinking about it over the last several months.
Specifically, the unconditional love of my non-Dub family and non-Dub family friends. Aunts, uncles, grandparents, family friends always gave me birthday presents and Christmas presents.
And, because I was a Dub I never reciprocated. No mother's day cards for my grandmother. No Christmas cards or birthday cards and good wishes for aunts and uncles and cousins. No father's day cards, birthday cards, or Christmas cards for my non-Dub Dad. Yet they never took offense and continued to treat me the same way.
This is one of the biggest regrets of my life, because all of them are gone now (except cousins). I so wish I could turn back the clock and do it all over.
The lesson in this is that, in spite of the contrary claims of the BORG, there is a lot of love in this world and it is true, unconditional love.
Now I waste no time in expressing my appreciation to people because you just never do know if it will be "too late."
Thanks for the post,
Alex
i left in 1997 so i didn't enjoy the privilege of editing my personal copy of the book.. there was a thread on here a few years ago about it but i was left with the impression that it was just a few marginal notes.. now, on another thread there are comments about cutting and pasting stuff into the book.. just how extensive were the edits?.
i cannot believe the borg (sorry, yes i can) would direct such a bizarre exercise for publishers.
how many of you said wtf?.
Hey Chris,
Thanks so much. What a fiasco. I had no idea that the edits were so extensive. It's astounding. I can't believe there wasn't a substantial exodus in the wake of this.
Did you guys actually make photocopies of the changes and paste them into the book? Or did people hand-write them in?
Did the BORG supply supplemental instructions on how to "theocratically" (OMG) make the edits?
Alex
i'm talking about one you can have a beer with, talk to, etc.
one that won't snub you no matter what.
.
Except for one, all of the "friends" I had in Dubdom based their friendship on conditions of allegiance to the BORG.
The one friend who did not was my best friend in High School. He bailed many years before I did and after I bailed we resumed our friendship.
So, in an odd sort of way it was me who was guilty of friendship by condition. Fortunately, he understood and has never held it against me.
It's been great resuming the friendship. He truly is closer than a brother to me.

does anyone know how many times the revelation climax book (which was released in 1988) was studied in the congregation book study program up to now?.
in addition to how many times, if you know the years it was studied that would be helpful.
thanks.. .
mostlydead,
Wow. I left in 1997 before the self editing exercise, but I saw something on here a few years ago about the publishers having to make their own edits. The impression I got was that it was just a few little marginal notes here and there. I was a book study conductor for a long time and I think it would have hit me the same way it hit you. WTF was the BORG thinking by having the R&F edit the "new truth" into their study copies. Ihad no idea that the edits were so substantial.
Just how much editing was there??? Was it an excercise that involved pulling out entire pages and basically doing a bookbinder's job???
