  Aloha all. I'm afraid that Richard CB has missed the point of this web site. I don't believe many of us would be here were it not for the fact that the wtbs has destroyed our families. This is not an intellectual exercise for most of us here. We know what this so called religion does to people on an institutional basis. It seems to me that mr. C b would be better off by reading up on cults and the Wtbs as well. If he thinks he is taking the intellectual high ground by dismissing the comments of those of us harmed by this cult, so be it. I for one am living proof that this cult is not harmless. Aloha

  JWs nearly killed my mother

  the past week has been hell for me.

  my mother started feeling ill and we went to seek medical assistance.

  we live in the mountains and the nearest large hospital is about 150 kms away.

  What a great ending to a horrific situation. Please send this true life story/experience to your local paper, TV station, or any other media you can think of. I'm not trying to be crass by capitalizing on your hardship, but the world needs to hear this. No god worthy of worship demands human sacrifice. The JW.org God has got to be exposed. I know you took your responsibility of looking out for your moms life serious. No greater love can be shown. You are a good man. Love to your mom from all of us ' apostates '.

  hi i've been a jw my whole life and i'm 17 now.

  i've never had a mine of my own and recently i started thinking more open minded and i know the being a jw isn't for me.

  i feel like i've been in a bubble my whole life.

  Man, lucky you. I stayed in this religion for way too long. Like you, I knew it was fishy since I was about your age. Everyone on this forum is a friend. Life as a JW will stunt you in all meaningful ways. Remember that when you begin to doubt your feelings about this. Education is a big yes. Helping mankind, helping the earth we all share is a big thing. Please think big. Do not let your family of friends try to make you into them. Freedom to think and see clearly is so valuable. This is normal for most kids your age. Just not religious fanatics. As everyone said, don't offend your folks. You want their love and support. You have the potential to be a great person and do great things. Read lots. Do not focus on small things. Life is big and full of wonder. Live it. Aloha

  Geoffrey Jackson: "That would be presumptuous of us"...

  within the first few minutes, mr. stewart asked geoffrey jackson if the members of the governing body consider themselves to be god's spokesperson on earth.. his response: "that would be presumptuous of us" (implying that they don't consider themselves to be god's sole channel of communication).. to me, that was the worst lie of about 26 lies he's told during this hearing.

  however, mr. stewart missed an opportunity to call out mr. jackson on this bold-faced lie.

  he should have asked him to explain why the watchtower magazine teaches otherwise.

  Please Caleb or others, email the RC with direct quotes and references. They are reading the emails. I have gotten personal responses. Please keep at this. The lies need to be exposed. It's criminal to lie to the RC. Mr. Jackass took an oath. All JWs believe in the FDS. If you question that idea, you are apostate and shunned. That's the first question out of any members mouth when speaking with a ' weak' one. Also, the idea of God only using them org and FDS to lead people. If anyone disagrees, they are not true JWs. Shunning is the preferred tool. DF, DA, or inactive with doubts. No difference.

  The girl next door is right on. What the old hippie experienced is rare in my opinion. I was an elder for years, not too long ago. The attitude of the men in charge was not very generous of Christlike. If you are inactive, you are not following the slave. You don't turn in time...this is a huge thorn in the side for elders. You are basically marked as bad association. Your family is viewed as weak and not spiritual minded. Worldly. The deter timing factor in who is spiritual good association is all based on hours in the field and meeting attendance. Sorry, true. This is not a very inclusionary group. They will turn on you in an instant. aloha

  I Made the Literature Trolley Run Away Today - Twice

  i popped into town this morning to buy an anniversary card for mrs cofty.

  it is market day on a saturday and it's tourist season so the town was very busy.

  here is a picture of the scene from a year ago... two cult carts were in their favourite place being guarded by none other than one of the elders who was on my judicial committee, his wife and another jw woman in her electric disability buggy.

  Angus Stewart calls the JW religion a captive organization

  if you watched the questioning of terrence o'brien by angus stewart at day 7 part 3 on youtube--thanks so much for uploading these videos--you'll see that mr. stewart puts quite clearly to brother o'brien that the jw 0rganization is a "captive organization".. he makes this reference regarding the practice of da/df'ing and shunning, which he mentions is the one thing that makes ex-jw's the most angry.

  because insisting on shunning ex-members causes psychological trauma and separates people from their family, friends and their community of support; therefore, they are held captive by the organization if they don't want to lose those most dear to them.. i believe angus stewart is to be commended for seeing clearly what the wt/jw religion is truly like in practice, and it isn't pretty.. the term "captive organization" is usually used in finance to mean a business front, a legal veil that shields the parent company from liability and having to make big insurance payouts.

  for example if the australian branch gets sued and loses, the "wt australia" corporation will pay the amount awarded by the judge to the complainant.
