  tell me how you feel about spanking your kids - be honest now!!!

  have you ever, and under what circumstances?.

  what other methods of discipline do you use?

  I have 3 children. I definitely believe in spanking, but only from the ages of 3 to 6/7.

  Spanking a child under 2 is abuse, spanking a child over 8 is uncalled for IMO.

  But between the ages of 3 and 7, it can be hard or impossible to reason with a child and a few smacks lets them know you mean business. After that spanking becomes unnecessary as you have established your expectations.

  At the age of 8 and up if they cross the line a good time out or taking away a privilege usually does the trick, but of course you have to mean it otherwise you start to lose credibility.

  What were the things that troubled you as a JW?

  i'm not necessarily asking for the big stumbling blocks here or things you discovered once you started doing your own research outside the borg.

  i'm talking about the smaller things.. for me one thing was the talk of no one being able to become a witness unless "jehovahs drew them to him".

  as a born-in this never jived with me.

  What should I do with all of these books?

  while growing up, my dad maintained a rather huge wts library.

  i liked the idea of being able to pick out one of those old books from the1940s or earlier and read what they were saying back then.

  well for the first time, in september of 2006 at the age of 40, i finally became a home-owner.

  Got rid of my collection just last week. Finally!

  I had a whole bookcase full. i boxed everything up 2 years ago - I could no longer stand to look at it, but I still couldn't throw it out, you know just in case I put the boxes in the garage.

  Last week, I finally got fed up. I already wasted 25 years, i am not wasting another day. If someone is going to believe what I have to say about the watchtower or the bible they can most certainly look it up in their own literature, if they are so inclined.

  Of course I kept the 2004 CD, just in case.

  i've been lurking for some time, since i was "disconnected" by my husband, "tooktheredpill".

  i'm a 3rd generation witness, and still inside of the borg, because all my family is inside.

  i was still in the "troof" a couple of years ago when my mom said that to my face, in front of my husband no less.. he was a jw as well, he couldn't believe it.

  my reply was "well i will give my life to save my children and if god sees fit to punish me for that - that's his choice".

  "jehovah save me from ever thinking for myself" in response to one of many discussions I've tried to have with her to get her to open her eyes to the WTS lies.

  so he has disowned most of his creation......so sad

  you do realize that as our Creator it is actually not his right, but his responsiblity to care for us or else he should have thought twice about bringing children into this world
