Obviously there is no verse that spells it out for you - it is all interpretation after all.

fjtoth: thank you for the background on the diaglott - so basically the Diaglott is just another bible translation "based on the various readings of the Vatican Manuscript 1209". I wish I knew what that meant - is the greek in the Diaglott the word for word greek in the Vatican Manuscript??
JCanon: Having been raised a witness, I am familiar with all the bible verses that do not support the trinity. after having left the witnesses I have become familiar with the bible verses that do support it.

The Society here did not add the "a" before the last "God".
Question - Do you think that this would be proof enough for JWs that the WT has changed the bible?

Green bible 1961
by loosie inis the green bible ( new world translation) special in any way?
did the wtbs make any revisional changes when the black one came out?
why did they discontinue the green one?.

I had a copy of the green bible until about a week ago. now I regret throwing it out with the other WT literature. Specifically because in the green version the WTS had john 1:1 without the "a"
there were a couple of other verses as well that they have now changed in the newer version (which also completely changes the meaning of the scripture) but i can't remember what those verses are

Thank you for the link.
Ever since I left the borg, I have experienced how compassionate most people truly are - not at all what we were lead to believe about "wordly" people.

For those raised as a JW...
by DisconnectingDrone inlike many i was about 7 or 8 when my parents were baptized.
being a child you naturally trust that your parents are doing the right thing and follow them.
i was baptized at 15-how often i wish i could turn back the clock!

I was raised a JW since the age of 10. My dad is not a JW.
I am angry at my dad for not caring. He never believed in the JWs, but he did not care enough about his kids to stand up for them or investigate or spend any time with them. I know how hard it is to have a wife that is more loyal to the JWs that her husband, it can be overwhelming, but he never cared either way about anything in his children's lives. But this is a theme in his life, as even today he does not give a sh** about anything other than soccer/hockey.
I am angrier still at my mom. I understand that my mom was a victim of this cult. She however is no longer a victim, she now chooses to follow the GB. I have told her every little thing I have found out about thier abuses, lies and munipulation, and she does not care. She makes an informed choice to choose the GB over her children and grandchildren and she does not regret any past choices. I don't remember ever loving her as a mom, it is hard to when there is no relationship. The only time she ever spent with us was at meeting or on service, that was it. As a mother myself now, I don't understand her choices.
For me being a JW was a very lonely time in my life.

Today's public talk - emotional manipulation
by mac n cheese inso i'm sitting in the kh today, and the speaker is really pretty good.
he's one of those really kind, in-it-for-others type of guys and it really comes through in his talk.
he starts reading scriptures about how j is near to those crushed in spirit, and how j will hear our cries for help.. and because we've been through the wringer with elders in the past, all the hurt that i thought i put behind me comes roaring back with a vengeance.

It is so unfortunate that all they can do is wait around for Jehovah to rescue them, from Satan, who Jehovah let loose on them in the first place. They have given away all their power to the the men of the GB.

What positive aspects do you find about being a JW in the past?
by tooktheredpill ina couple of days ago, i posted a comment for a newbie like me (http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/145459/2623555/post.ashx#2623555), and i told him this:.
i try to focus in the few positive aspects of being a jw, and how that can help me to improve myself.
i like to help people too, and that is something that i really enjoy.

Question authority. Don't judge others. Celebrate and love yourself. Stop waiting for tomorrow and live NOW. Teach your children how to think, not what to think.
Thank you Watchtower.
