Tell Us About Your JW Father If You Had One.
by new boy inwe are great friends now....but he wasn't much of a father growing up.. worked all the time...we went on few vacations....pretty much pussy whipped my my nazis jw mother.. he never did believe in the whole jw thing.
he just when along with it, for my mothers sake.. she never did respect him for not being a "spiritual head" and pretty much let us kids know about it.. i, like my mother became very self rightious and judgmental.. i wished now he had just came to me just once and said "keith maybe the jws are not the people you think they are.
" but he was to afraid of my mother to say that...even though he knew it to be true.i would have never believed him....back then....but it would have planted a seed.... .

He was an elder who had an affair with my mother. I grew up with sporadic contact from him. As a little girl i was terrified i would die at armageddon if i spoke to him because he was disfellowshipped, and as a teenager if i ever heard from him all he would say was how dissappointed he was because i didn't want to "please jehovah." (He was reinstated by this stage).
He died three years ago of cancer. I drove past the hospital the night before he died but i didn't go in. I went to the JW funeral and all his other (non-witness) children were mentioned but not me. My very existence wasn't acknowledged. -

Wow, that's an incredibly heartless thing she did there. Why pull a stunt like that??? Why make it such a grandiose one??? I suppose so she wouldn't have to be accountable for her choices. You seriously don't expect these things to happen in real life. I'm sorry for the pain she has caused you.

The nicest thing is too close to my heart to allow myself to say out loud, but a cute one was "you make me ecstatic and i'm not even on drugs."

FORGIVENESS
by tula inare you obligated to forgive someone.
......if they do not ask for forgiveness.
......if they show no remorse for the transgression.

My mother and father had an affair. My mother and her husband divorced but my father and his wife stayed together. His wife would not forgive him but she wouldn't let him go either. Instead she chose to "keep" him so that she could treat him badly for the rest of his life. She abused him emotionally, mentally and physically until his death. What she clearly didn't understand was that in torturing him she was torturing HERSELF. Not only did she remind herself daily that she had been cheated on, but she denied herself the freedom to heal and move on. In the absence of forgiveness all she had was the desire to inflict pain. But inflicting pain on someone you love or once loved is painful. So she created her own world of pain because she refused to forgive him.

Something all faders should do...
by B_Deserter ini was thinking about the blood issue with witnesses and realized that if i were in an accident where i would need a transfusion and were unconscious, my family and the congregation would keep me from having one, possibly resulting in my death.
the whole point of fading is not letting anyone know your intentions and just walking away, so i think some serious legal counter to the hospital liaison committee is needed.. what i'm thinking is having a notarized legal document drawn up along these lines:.
statement of medical wishes when incapacitated.

B_Deserter you make an important point. Interestingly "no blood" was probably the only WT-conditioned issue that i didn't easily leave behind, which is strange considering my sister died from leukemia and refused blood transfusions herself. Making sure all documents are legal is the most important thing, and i agree with scully - relying on a JW relative to make decisions for you if you are incapacitated would be extremely dangerous.
