Ok, Chef Ramsey yelling "So much oil in that salad it looks like Sauls head" has me rolling. Thanks for the laugh!

JWs in Florida and California. Is there really a difference?
by BU2B ini have heard over the years from many different people about how jws in those states are unlike elsewhere.
the parties they have, the way they dress and the permissive attitude.
i just heard from a sister that is from florida, that if you are not "spiritually strong" you will "fall out of the truth" down there.

I've lived in MA and FL and have not noticed much difference. Never been to a JW party were things got even close to wild. Perhaps it has to do with particular regions in FL and CA? Perhaps the level of affluence of the region and the congregation?

Brother placed 'Teach" Book to President Obama? WTF?
by Smoky ini just read a post on monday aprox 9pm on the "escuela del ministerio teocratico/theocratic ministry school" on facebook (posted in spanish).. it is talking about an experience given in a ohio, circuit assembly.. it reads that a brother that was a worker at the factory obama was visiting, was able to preach briefly to president obama and place the book 'what does the bible teach' during a quick meet and greet.. i think its bullshit.. anyone ever heard of this experience at a assembly?.
i dont have a cpu, and my phone is not working, for me to copy, translate and post on here for you all to see.
maybe one of you can?.

Even if it was true, so what? What is the president supposed to say, I'm not going to take your book?
It's like the stat about the Watchtower magazine. It may be the widely published magazine out there, but that doesn't mean anyone reads it. So who cares?

The results of the 2012 survey are published, and the new 2013 survey is now online!
by cedars infor those of you who are following our annual jw global survey, you will be pleased to know that the results have been published, and are available on the link below.... http://jwsurvey.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/2012-jw-survey-results.pdf.
i would urge as many as possible to take part in our new survey, which has been enhanced to implement some of the suggestions we received from those taking part in last year's poll.. anyway, i hope you find the 2012 results helpful and enjoy taking part in our new survey.. by all means share your thoughts on the results on this thread, not to mention any suggestions that will help make the 2014 survey better still!

Great work Cedars!
These two figures are very telling:
- Three quarters of former Witness voters say they are being shunned by JW family members
- 84% of inactive Witness voters would leave the organization if shunning were abolished

The Infamous May 15th 1984 Watchtower "1914: The Generation That Will Not Pass Away"
by PublishingCult in.
.
i do not know how the blogger who posted this infamous wt cover (5/15/84) got all the names of those who posed for this magazine cover, or whether the names are even correct, but if he got it right, man, what a provocative statement.. .

What if you simply IGNORED being disfellowshipped and continued as before?
by Terry ini know this is an odd idea.
maybe it is even silly.. but, i do daydream..... .
what if you were informed that you are disfellowshipped and you flashed a huge smile and said, "nah.".

I dont know about going as far as Terry suggests, but if I am out with my wife and kids and JW's greet them, I say hi right back. They either have shun all of us or they have to greet all of us. It does mess with their heads when you don't play the shamed-little-school-child game. It's like at some level they realize something is wrong with them.

Reaching Loved Ones Stuck in a Cult: Reciprocal Letter Writing
by 00DAD ini've been toying with an idea that i think just might have some legs.
so here i am trotting it out for all of you to consider and comment upon.
for many of us, we are extremely frustrated by the fact that we have no way to communicate with our loved ones still stuck in the organization.

Great idea. Simple, doesn't require a lot of time and effort, or a whole lot of coordinating. Sounds like a winner to me.

Is there a 'third' way to leave?
by Splash inonce baptised, apart from death there are really just two ways to leave the congregation: df or da.. but notice this quote:.
"does he really desire to disassociate himself, or does he simply no longer want to associate actively with the congregation?".
- shepherd the flock of god (2010) p. 111. .

A few elders will read this as: if they no longer want to associate actively leave them alone. Most elders will read it as: if they no longer want to associate actively stay on them until you can bring them back to the fold or they DA.

I am like Dr. Leo Marvin in "What about Bob"
by NVR2L8 ina few days ago i watch the old bill murray movie "what about bob" with my family and realized that i'm in the same situation as dr. leo marvin (played by richard dreyfus).
for those who have never seen this movie, dr. marvin is a psychiatrist who is unable to shake off an obsessed patient who manages to track him down during his family vacation.
the patient befriends the family who see him like a charming man, when in fact he is driving dr. leo crazy.

What about Bob is hilarious.
NVR2L8, what would happen if you just focus on having fun with your family and creating happy memories? What would you be doing with them if there was no WTS?
I think we tend to focus too much on the WTS and give it more importance than it merits. (Easier said than done, I know.) My experience is what I focus on expands.
